This is our first test on the 4.00 bore - clearly, we can cam this up some if we want to. In the meantime it drives beautifully, idles like a champ and has a great torque curve.

If you bumped this motor to 11.7:1 it would have been kissing 550/500. Also this cam is very mild and we may end up putting something larger in and see what she does.
These heads are a amazing piece of work and a great option for us 4.0 bore and up guys.

Great results either way!

I you were to run these on say an ls3 bore they would be slightly different then these which are for the LS2. Should have no problem running these on that bore. They are designed for a 4.0 bore or larger.

I am curious about flow numbers for the heads ... were they bench tested. I would like to compare them to my TF215's. I like the thought of a larger head/intake/TB combo, but I don't want to lose any torque. That is the best part of my motor.
ZGLASS

You can see they make torque. They flowed 383cfm at .700 on my set of heads. Also my torque would have made 500 with a bit more compression. But due to the block having the -15cc dished piston we ended with just over 11:1 my fault for buying a used block. Was too good a deal to pass up. You will want to run a different cam with these heads then one cut for cathedral port heads.
These were some flow numbers from a prior set to mine.
Intake Flow (on 4.040 Bore)
.1 = 71
.2 = 164
.3 = 246
.4 = 301
.5 = 338
.6 = 364
.7 = 378
Exhaust Flow (on 4.040 Bore)
.1 = 56
.2 = 116
.3 = 178
.4 = 221
.5 = 240
.6 = 250
.7 = 256
I was going to run my old top end at first. But was excited to be the first to try these heads out. So i sold my topend to cover the cost of this setup. almost was a wash as you can get an ls7 intake on the cheap!

Very nice ... this is a similar setup I would like to try next year. I like my torque #'s, but i think I am leaving some horsepower on the table with my TFS CNC 215's / ported 90/90 setup. It will be track ready and I will shake it down soon. I still have suspension components yet to install to hook it, but we will see what. I am thinking coilovers should finish out the suspension.
By the way my TFS flow's are ...
0.100... 59.6... 68.3
0.200...121.9...139.8
0.300...186.7...218.5

I actually got to look over a large bore casting beside a factory ls7 head. The oe ls7 head has a bulge behind the intake valve thats protrudes out. They designed these to where the coolant passage wouldn't stick out. With these, you have a much straighter path from the runner to the chamber that's actually smaller in size but flows considerably better. I look forward to many more great results with these heads. Great job RPM!

I think we will see some insane numbers from these heads in the future. Like I said build my combo to closer to 12-1 with a thumper cam and I bet you could see upwards of 560-570whp and 510-515tq on pump gas. Add a ported LS7 Fast 102/102 into the mix maybe closer to the magic 600whp mark who knows. Hell I'm a cam swap away from 550whp right now.
My combo is a modest combo on 91 pump and it made some serious strong numbers! But again I drive my car often and wanted a more mild mannered car. I got what I wanted as this drives as nice as my 228-232 combo did on my stock shortblock.
How much is the head package?

So what numbers did this combo make??? What were the increases from all of this work? I presume these mods were on a stock block LS6?

Nice peak horsepower, but I am waiting to see what it takes to bring the torque up too. The posts I have seen indicate the 102/102's dropping torque. Your 402 may make a good test bed for my future 402 mods. :nod:

Yes those mods were on my stock block and went 450/412 on the same dyno.
Bring the torque up? I have a great torque curve. Especially when you look at my mild compression 11-1. I would imagine at 12-1 itwould pick ap 10-15 torque everywhere.

I didn't mean to imply that you were NOT making good torque. My meaning was that, in my case, before I run out and go to a 102/102/rectangular port setup, I would want to see a combo where the rwt was higher than your 488, since I am already at 497, but with 30 less rwhp. I would have to justify it to myself. Don't think I am to trying to down-play your accomplishment and if you read it that way, it was not my meaning .... damn forums. It is easy to read into something or hard to express a meaning on "paper".

Its all good. I believe you could do my exact combo with higher compression and go 550/505 easy. Especially on better then our crappy gas here. Also basically you could sell your combo to pay for this combo no problem. Not quite if you go with a Fast 102 though.

Now that would be something to think about next winter. Currently, I am running 11.6:1 with total timing of 24* and air fuel of 12.8:1. and we do have 93 octane readily available here.

I would bet that if you did my exact combo with the RPM ported intake manifold these heads and my cam you could make those numbers deff on 93oct. At around 11.8:1

I just got a screen name with them last week on Corvette forum damn. You guys are a joke. Charlie posted that thread so that i can answer questions on Corvette forum about my new setup for him and help answer any other questions they had. I will hopefully be an official employee and get payed that would be great! I would love the extra cash. Is there somewhere in this thread where I was trying to push products on people? The only time I gave any info is if someone asked for it. Damn you guys. I have been on this forum for years and would like to keep on without people calling me a liar for nothing. When I get paid by RPM then I will officially work for them work for them at least thats how I felt about being employed.

Well I don't know what happened but I feel you it was a good thread before. I was just trying to give everyone a heads up on this new option. They can be used on a 4.0 bore. Mine is a 4.005 bore 402. Looks like it might be a CMS vs RPM thing but for what reason I have no Idea. I have talked with Ryne many times and I think he is a great dude. He has a bad ass reputation and has actaully helped me before. In fact I met him at a drag day last year cool guy. I'm just local to RPM and had good results with them which is why i was going to try and help them and possibly become an employee if it works out.

Either way, if the heads are priced accordingly, it frees up some money that you don't have to dump on a FAST, and can run an LS7 intake.
I've had a hard-on for a while now to cut the cowl on my car, ditch the wipers, and run the bread box (LSX-RT) but this seems like a much more viable option.
I thought you said something about having shrouding issues initially....? Is this fixed now with the casting, or is it going to be a case by case basis that has to be checked pending on bore size?
ZGLASS

You have to run offset bushings with these heads to fix the shrouding issue. But its fairly simple.
