Well I got a good deal on a SRX from E-bay (still not cheap by any means) and got some time for the install.
First off this is a very labor intensive unit to install, it took me 3 hrs and I do mobile electronics for a living. That said it is a very high quality peice with more option and features than most people will ever use. The hardest part by far was finding a good place to install the 2 front laser sensors/shifters, I ended up mounting them inside my ram-air duct. This looks pretty good, but I am not sure if the mesh grill will interfer with operation. I put the main radar detection module behind the front license plate cover, this required a little dremel work. The rear laser sensor/shifter was easily mounted to the license plate. Untill I can find a better place I just stuck the head unit below the heater controls where the 2 panel come together, actually fit very nicely. I also got the external speaker which I put under the dash, behind the heater controls facing down. Finally I put the hdeen display led on the dash bezel that goes around the speedo cluster, centered in the middle so it shines down on the clear plastic.
I have only had it in for a day, but it does not false as much as my old unit did. The external speaker is very loud, even with my stereo turned up I can still hear it which is nice. I will post back will further comments on performance after I have it going for a couple weeks.
Also for any other out there that have this or a similar unit, what did you do with the front laser sensors?
