Thumbs up 6.0 Swap into a 2nd Gen 81 TA

1981 Pontiac Trans Am

The car runs and drives great, so I plan to do a tune up in case its been a while since the last one. It has a 4.9L Pontiac V8 rated at I think around 155HP and 245tq lol not many jams, I don't know if any chevy parts are interchangeable so I only plan to remove the cats and install some mufflers to louden it up a bit maybe a carb. This engine is actually the same one they turbo, well at least the fact that it is a 4.9L I don't know if there are other differences.

So has anyone on here swapped LS's into these cars? what will I need, can someone post pics or thread info.

Thanks

Hey, I also have a 2nd gen, but my ride is a 79 Trans am with the shaker.. but i recently acquired a LQ9 thats gonna replace the sbc... im still debating if i wanna go carb or keep it fuel injected.. one thing is that i do want to keep the shaker shaking... one guy over in Transamcountry installed a ls2 in his 80 ta. he kept it fi and kept the shaker..

Is it cheaper to make the 6.0 carb'd rather than buying the extras to keep it fuel injected?

Short answer.. Yes. But really depends on what parts you got with the LQ9 and what parts you have floating around the garage.
