What color should I get the block painted ?

Iron block & Aluminum heads...

Thought maybe factory black and leave the heads alone ?
Valve covers are a little oxidized but may clean up ??

Any thoughts ????

Did not like the GM blue, but the Chevy orange looks nice, Black is always a winner.

How about making it match the car? I think that would look sweet!

I swear I saw somewhere that black honestly makes a bit more power because of heat and the color black. But it is 4 am so I could be making things up.

Is it just me or is the first orange lighter than the other oranges? Are all of the above photos plain old chevy orange, or is that first one hemi orange? Eric L

I've always been partial to a satin black block, aluminum heads, and black valve covers. Simple and clean. jmo.

Mine is painted Chevy Orange, but I have some pics where you would swear it is red. I think the lighting does have a lot to do with it.

I used primer on my valve covers first too, but not the block. They both came out the same shade. Like said before, it must be differences in the lighting and color range of the camera.

...IF you're going for a sleeper look, painting the heads would be a nice touch...

But, as for color - I like the cast iron paint color.

I had mine Chevy Orange when I first coverted to carb, but it looks like shit in a yellow car.

So this time I went with a satin black with graphite covers and water pump

I have a better dirtier pic after daily driving for a year, looks a bit better and the blue is hidden under all the BS, LOL.

Went with blue because it is what was laying in the garage from a SBC i did in my 86 TA at one time, was in a rush to finish and didnt think it would look so bad....i was wrong.
