When I bought this car back in Feb of 2010, we painted it an off silver color with some blue and grey tones in it. See the thread below.

I decided I wanted a darker grey, almost black on the car. After looking for the right color for about 4 months, I decided on the new 2012 Chevy Ashen Gray Met. I have been sanding wet sanding for 4+ hours every night for the past week to get this ready to shoot today. Below are the pics. I'm really happy on how it turned out and should have it baack together this week. We'll wetsand and buff it next week as well. The RTS's make the paint look so deep. I'll have updated pics once I make more progress this week.

I don't think so. It's new for 2012. Ashen Gray Metallic.

Reminds me of Medium Spiral Gray Metallic offered I think on the 04 C5's

Thanks guys. The car was pretty straight since we did it 2 years ago but ahad a couple things to fix. I had about 4-5 hours of wet sanding it with 500 at night for a full week in order to get in the booth. I did the prep and Greg from Kolorcraft Autobody sprayed it. I'll have more pics of it put back together by the weekend. Were going to wait a couple weeks to wet sand/buff it before the local Syracuse show in March.

It's like a dark pewter metallic color. Some shots look pewter, while others look black. Even on the same panel, it looks like it changes colors, maybe it's the lighting. I like it a lot.

love the color, I work at a gas station and a malibu in that color pulled up in the sunlight the metallic really caught my eye. I considered painting my car the color but decided to stay with silver.

Op do you drive with no front license plate? If you do you could have bought fiberglass filler for thr front plate and could have the license plate filler perminant and no gap.

02-25-2012, 06:11 PM
I drive without a plate and did consider doing that. In NY, it is the law to have the front plate on and wanted to leave the option open if I really did need to put it on. I've seen a couple cars with it molded in and it does look great.

Looks great, I LOVE the color! I had an '88GTA that was a similar color. I never understood why they didn't cary it over to the 4th gens.

ahh I love it! If I ever get around to re-painting my car this is going to be the base for my next crazy creation of a color haha.

Me too. The color was Gunmetal Metallic, and it's what I planned on painting my Formula until I saw this. OP your car looks great. I'm jealous.
