Default bought 01 z28 today ls1

hey i just bought and drove home a 2001 z28 ls1 camaro. ive owned nothing but modular 4.6 sohc and dohc mustangs my whole life everything from 11sec all motor to 800hp f1 procharged cars. like i said this is my first gm car. i wanted to go fast cheaper and i found this at a great price. car is pretty much stock. from my experience with fords i know that on a stock car a mass air and throttle body do nothing until you have alot of mods. it has magnaflow exhaust highflow cats. but thats it. oh yea also a jet control module which i know does nothing but it was on when i bought it. its an automatic car. he said it has 3.73s but the speedo isnt off so im not sure. he didnt really seem to know what he was talking about. so i need opinions on whats next. i was thinking longtubes and 4.10s then the 102mm intake tb combo or the 90mm whatever is better

first things first. get a 3600-4000 stall for it. the gears you have are fine. i think 4.11's are too steep for a 4l60e.

That all comes down to how tall a tire are you planning to run. There isn't much difference between a 3.73 running 26" tires and a 4.11 running 28" tires. A 4000 stall isn't bad at all on the street. At 45mph it is gonna lockup anyway. I'm running 28" tires and a 4.11 rear gear and I tach about 2000 rpm at 55mph.

To check the gear ratio jack up the car then slip it into nuteral. Get a sharpie and make a mark on the very bottom of the drive shaft. Then a piece of tape on the very bottom of the wheel. Get a friend to spin the shaft one time. How many times the wheels spins is your gearing. Almost 4 spins is a 3.90's. Hope that might help you. I do that before installing gear in anything.
