Default which head would you choose AFR 230 or 245

I have a 410 ci motor with a 4.040 bore and -9cc pistons.
I am going to be ordering a set of AFR heads and want to know from the gurus what they think.
230cc and 245cc are the ones Im considering AFR only.

fire away with pros and cons and information I may want to know
thanks

Without looking up the flow numbers, I'd assume the 245s might make more
peak horsepower but the 230s will have much better port speed and thus
more average torque throughout the power band. I ran AFR cnc'd 220s on an
old school 434 incher back in the day and it made great torque even with a
1050 dominator and a 280 @ .050 cam

Yeah. That's what I'm leaning towards. 245 with hollow stem valves and custom cam specd by Tony Mamo. He recommends the 230 mamofied w light valves but they are $$$$$. Lol.

wow 130+ views and only one comment........
is anyone here running a 245 AFR head on a 408CI motor?

I was thinking initially the 230 with the upgraded 2.1 valve and 1.6 but for the extra cost to do this I can just order the 245 with those valves since they come standard on that head. either one will let the motor breath better. I dont think the 205's are optimizing my set up at all.
I just need to finalize it with Tony as to whats best but he has been out for the 4 day weekend thats why I posted here.

How's the car driven? Any street use? I know Tony built a 407 with AFR 215's a couple of years ago that was for a street driven Vette that made stupid USEABLE power.

What intake? I think either would be a good choice but it depends where you want your power. If your running a Fast the 245's will easily outflow what your Fast will. The 230's will give you a nicer power band.

i Have the 92 fast and 92 mm TB. I will send it to him to get it ported once I get the little bugs worked out. the car is driven on nice days only and will be going to the track as much as 4-8 times per year.
the car is my toy so I just want to have the heads that will allow me to run my goal of NA 10sec on this 3650lb pig.
the 205 didnt quite got me there.
If the fast becomes a hindrance, I would get a marcella or other type of sheet metal intake by the end of the year. once I get to the 10 second goal I will use some juice on this engine and see how far I can take it to.
I had this car for so long and only went to the track last year.......so now Im addicted.

10's shouldnt be a problem with either Head. I would be shooting for mid 10's with that combo at that weight.

spoked to Tony and he definitely thinks I need to use the 230's for this build. He is going to install the light weight valves, upgraded springs and mill the heads for the Cam he is going to spec for me. I am very exited to get this done so that I can hit the track.
