Default This is why I live in Texas!

WTF?!! Homeowner stops a burglar and they try to charge HIM with a crime. As an experienced gun owner I know that you should never fire your weapon unless it is to kill someone, but this is just crazy! If this happened in Texas, cops would give you a pat on the back and tell you that you should have shot that piece of ****.

Not really, they have to be pretty much attacking you for you to be able to do something even in Texas. I talked to a lawyer about it a few weeks ago, be careful guys and read into the laws.

Asked a lawyer friend about it and he said it would not end well for me if I had shot him.

one of my sheriff friends and his constable brother have both told me that if I decide to shoot someone in self defense I should make sure they are dead and drag them in my house. They said at that point it is not your word against his, it is simply you claiming self defense and you feared for your life.

Not sure, but I think in Texas, you have to be "cornered" with no way out before you can legally shot to kill. That's why you grab your gun and lead the intruder into the closet, then fire away.

It all depends on the situation. This is why people should read gun laws.

Find a better lawyer.

Now there are some states that are like that, but not TX.

Take a CHL course. They will teach you the myths vs reality of the law.

You can't shoot people for trespassing. You can't pop off rounds to scare people. Many more...

Not even close. You just have to feel threatened.
