Exclamation How long til I blow my 10 bolt?

Getting some stuff put on my 00 ss and dyno tune here soon, car will have:

lid and cai, 85mm MAF, 85 mm tb and bbk manifold
ls6 cam, valve springs and hardened retainers
pacesetter lts w cats and maganaflow catback

car should have around 370+ at the wheels through stock t56 w stock clutch.

the car wont see the track being that its a vert w no cage, will run 275 all seasons tires all the time, and might have the occasional roll race here and there.

Really dont want to drop money into a new rear for a while so just trying to get an idea of how long i could last like this or if i should be ok. I used to have an 07 Charger SRT8 which also had a rear made of glass that I had to baby and I never hurt anything with that doing the same kind of driving on sticky tires, so maybe itll all work out. Thanks for the help.

How big are your lips! :joke:
It all a big gamble. These rears can break just with stock horsepower and repeated launches.

it seems that you are aware of the things that you need to be....
as long as you dont inadvertently catch wheel hop here & there it may live.......for awhile.how long awhile, depends on your right foot.

my stock clutch started giving up @ 370rwhp as did the 10 bolt......at the track with sticky tires.

good luck!

**** can go out driving down the highway......trust me it happens. 55 mph on cruise control and wham car cruises to a stop, clanking and rattling. Thought it was the trans but it shifted fine, put her in drive and clank clank clank. You may not have launched your car, but someone else probably did, and **** will eventually just break. All you can do is hope it happens in the right place and when your wallet isn't empty

No way to predict when it will go. You may be lucky and have a rear that wont break, or you may just be cruising and something lets go.

And your rear might go causing your trans to go as well, which is what happened to this guy!! FML

Wouldn't worry about it.. Just put alittle extra money aside for when it does.

The 10 bolts have a bad reputation but they can hold up for a while. My old SS made 440rwhp and the stock rear held up fine. I ran it on the street with 315 MT DRs and it never gave me any problems. I didnt abuse it terribly and did take it to the track a couple times always trying to be easy on it at least out of the hole. I did eventually switch to a 9" but only for peace of mind. I put the old 10 bolt in my Z28 with 400rwhp and it is still running strong to this day. It is all in how you drive it and maintain it. If you dont beat on it a lot and change the fluid regularly it should be ok.

I got a set of GM 4.10 gears, got them setup by a boss, Fergie haha. I visit the track maybe 5 times a year, on DRs, but on the street it's another story, my friends know I love some burnouts. I beat the motha love outta my car because that's what I built it to do...and I'm still rollin.

Everything's a gamble, if you don't want it to break the only 100% positive way is to not drive it, otherwise enjoy it and if/when it breaks, take it from there.
