Default Cam acc.

I have bought a Comp Extreme Energy 228/230 .571 .573 112 lsa. I am in the process of buying 918's and 7.4 chrome moly pushrods and I have new timing chain and gears. What else do I need to get for this size cam? What about retainers? Also, I heard these cams would screw up your valvetrain? WTF!! Is this true?

Bigger cams are harder on valvetrain parts, but since your updating the rest of your valvetrain you should be fine. I'm not sure what the 918's are rated at, lots of people run them. Personally I would want duals for anything over a 224 cam. I'm not positive but I don't think you need titanium retainers with the 918's.

I have 918s and you can use stock retainers or titanium for less weight. See Thunder Racing >>>>>>>>>>>

maybe valvetrain GEOMETRY could be affected with higher lift cams and/or taller springs. With your cam and stock height springs everything should bolt together without issues. I've heard some guys say that using shorter 7.350 pushrods help prevent bending them, along with being needed when you mill your heads.

Stock (unmilled) heads + smaller base circle of aftermarket cam = 7.4 pushrods.
