Headers or manifolds for turbo?

Headers or manifolds for turbo?
I wanted to get a feel here, I am building a single turbo LT1. Would a manifold or a header design be better for my application? Its a 383 and im going to be gunning for 15-18psi. I am planning on building either one out of 1-1/2 Schedule 40 (so really a 1.62" ID) The initial thought was headers, but I don't want to necessarily go do insane amounts of work for something that won't do me any good or even hurt performance. But like i said initial thoughts are a header.
