Drag Racing Results - Fastest stock long block record?

The other thread got me thinking, who has gone the fastest with stock heads/head bolts/head gaskets/rod bolts/ring gap/etc.?
I have gone a very lazy 6.3 @114 so far on mine, only mod to the engine is a cam/springs/pushrods/ls6 intake, everything else is how the general assembled it. Hell, the car still has working air conditioning. Just wondering who has gone the fastest without pulling the heads or messing with the bottom end.

Mike's mustang went 5.95 @117 and 9.27 on stock a 6.0 with just a z06 cam,patriot gold springs,and comp push rods. untoched long block.
And the Fairmont went 5.99 and 9.49 on a stock 5.3 with a z06 cam change, plus springs and pushrods. even with a stock truck intake.
My NovaWagon went 6.31 and 10.000 with a stock 6.0 plus the normal cam spring pushrod changes. And it was 3850 lbs with driver.

Pretty fast,and quick. Nice job.
We have been 5.91@117 on the factory untouched heads, gaskets, and TTY bolts. Only a cam, valve spring and pushrod change on the long block.
We thought that was pushing it on the stock gaskets and head bolts in a 3400 lbs car.

thats what i am running, heads have never been off, just a cam/spring/pushrod swap.

In this video my car had a stock 5.3l l33 engine with only valvesprings, pushrods, and headstuds. Stock truck cam. Car weighs 3250 with me in it. Pass was a 5.79@121. May be a slightly different criteria on the parts you were looking for ....but I think most would agree that cam would help more then head studs? Hopefully other people that post have some good track times, because we don't race dyno's.

thats awesome, i just mentioned head bolts since IMO the "stock long block" means as it was put together from the factory, no rings/rod bolts/head studs/etc. Everyone has a different definition I am sure though. Your build looks great and car moves out, not taking anything away from it at all.

The stock l33 cam is not that far off of the 01 z06 cam most people swap to.
If the head studs didn't cost so much, that change would have more value than the cam change, we usually make.
Stock head bolts are more of a weak link than the stock l33 cam.
Both mustangs are cool, and move out.:hail:

I would be careful here. Your longblock didn't come with the cam you have, the springs you have, nor the pushrods you have. So if your swap is considered stock, I think head studs or gaskets have less impact for performance than cam, springs, and pushrods.
FWIW I consider mine a stock bottom end and I swapped cam, springs, rod bolts, and head gaskets. IMO if you have the stock pistons, rods, and heads it is "stock." The reason I say that is people have been changing these items for years and still consider them stock. Regardless, you have run one of the fastest times I have seen for a stock bottom end. Nice job!

I'd like to see the fastest totally stock engine car. Like can push rods and gaskets

Me too. No modifications whatsoever. You would probably have to tear the engine apart to verify.

A turbo car wouldn't go very fast with stock valvesprings.

I agree...but because one guys only does cam and springs and a different guy does head studs one can't say he is stock and the other isn't. The headstuds have little to do with performance where as the cam does. However, the headstuds allow you the opportunity to possibly push more boost. Not guaranteed. Like said, I also swapped out a cam, springs, and headstuds and consider mine stock because it still has stock pistons/rods/heads. I just don't think it is fair for him to say he did a cam change along with pushrods and that is stock but someone else who did head studs is not stock. That's crazy. IMO both are stock as long as it is rods/pistons/pushrods. If not then you would have to say totally stock which would be factory springs and the times would not be very fast. Again, just my .02

Agreed, it's jealousy plain and simple why one will say it's not stock and another will say it is.
When you going to get that thing of yours on the track?
Do you have tuning software?

i have gone 9.78 on a completely truly un touched un opened scoggin dickey ls6 long block, in fact it had a 98 ls1 intake and throttle body on it and a custom turbo kit and was tuned by east coast superchargers in new jersey. last time i checked i was the record holder for a completely un tampered with ls6. i currently have pulled the ls6 and sold most of it and reused the cam and lifters in a stock bottom junk yard 4.8 and am going for the record for a stock bottom 4.8 next. i have a video of the 4.8 posted else where if you want to search and see it.

Since people are throwing up their combos i guess i will.
99 camaro, ls1 52k miles
Stock 853 heads, never been off the car or a head bolt turned
Stock TB
Stock MAF
Stock LS6 intake (didn't come on my car but it is stock on 01-02 cars)
Stock 28lb injectors (my car came with 26 but 28s are stock on 98, 00-02 I think)
Stock Rob Bolts
Upgrades - cam, springs, pushrods, oil pump
Best pass on spray is 6.18 at 110 and 9.74 at 137.
I know camscam02 has gone 5.95 with almost the exact same setup.

High 8's with a stock longblock (stock cam) plus a power adder is damn impressive. I remember in April 1999 we were excited to have the first LS1 into the 10's... 10.84@127 mph. :) Stock longblock + 2 stages of nitrous... Heavy pig...

Can we add a little more info on these cars? How much do these cars weigh?
My car is running 6.5's on a 150 shot with the stock short block and absolutely full weight less the spare tire and 12-disc CD changer but I am sure I have added that weight back in brackets. I hope to be running low 6's by this weekend at full weight.
