Default Trans Am Seat Foam

Alright guys, I've searched the **** out of this and come across a few threads regarding this issue, but no real luck with this. It appears that no one makes stock replacement seat foam for ours cars, which is a damn shame because that's one of the few aspects of our car's aftermarket that is untouched and could be a real money maker. Anyone have any ideas on how much a shop would charge to recover one seat and refoam it? All of my seats are quite good, but my driver's seat could stand some fresh foam and perhaps a bolster freshen up and I can be a naggy perfectionist with things like that, so was wondering what all you have paid or been quoted to have that done? Thanks!

Well I figured as much, but curious about price quotes for new "non factory" foam and seat recovery. Perhaps I should have thought out the thread title more carefully.

There was a thread a while back (less than a year ago) in which I participated heavily in and the topic was the same, however, there was one member that claimed he either had one set mocked up on his own, or is about to finish one up.

When a few of us kept on insisting he moves forward with all of this, he disappeared. At first, he was too busy, and couldn't get to it, than he just stopped responding.

Dig up the thread, and let's get this **** out here. PS- 6LE I hope you're listening man! We need some foam just to throw under our stock leather. A lot of us wanna retain the stock seats looks and finish!

I knew exactly which one you were talking about I remember watching that thread back then but since I had not swapped to an ebony interior and still had my base '98 Firebird interior, I didn't care as much. Lol now I do. I've also thought to contact him but it looks like he hasn't signed on for a few days now. I also have a friend who is very close friends with 6LE in real life, I messaged him on Facebook yesterday asking him to pass the idea along to 6LE. God knows if he will.

6LE, if you are reading this, I don't think we will object if you can find a way to give us some stock appearing/lasting foam that adds even more comfort to the seat, if that's at all possible. I do think our seats are pretty damn comfy stock as it is though

I think with our cars getting up in age, companies like yearone will jump on any opportunity to make some dough.

I think the most important thing to keep in mind is for those of us that want to retain the stock seats and the stock look, the foam should accommodate that.

I wonder if I can order the recliner part of the rails? Both my seats have a 1-2 inch play in the recliner so when I hit the brakes or gas the seats move forward and back

Since we are on the top of seats in general- does anyone know if i can get the back/back piece- the plastic one that typically gets scratches up from the seat belt hitting against it??

What did you search exactly? Because when I look under any year from 98-02 for Trans Am, I do not even get as far as FRONT SEAT COMPONENTS. It ends at SEATS & TRACKS for me. Part #s?

Likely, or you can find one cheap from a pullout or eBay.

Is the recliner the same as the base model Firebird seats? If so I wouldn't mind just sending you mine, if it is the same.
