Default Still cant decide.. ready to order cam, please help

Ok, I posted not long ago but wanted to start a new thread cause I am still confused on a cam to order. I had to stop and be really honest with myself on what I think I will actually end up doing with this car and here is what I came up with. I will replace the 4L60E with a 4L80E cause I know it wont last much longer, I will be purchasing a 9" for it but will keep the gearing probably around 3:73 because I actually do cruise a little bit in the car from time to time and I drive it to the track

I probably wont every buy anything more than a set of 243 heads for it and will probably keep the LS6 intake it already has.. Obviously the car will never be fast enough but my legit goal right now is to run 6.50 in the 1/8th.. I dont want more than a 6 point in the car and I know to run faster I need more but dont know how much more.. either way I have no interest in a full cage so maybe I can get away with 5.50 with an 8 point?

Back to cam selection.. I really want the thing to sound mean as hell, I know thats gay and shallow but its just the truth.. I want to pull into work and have people be really impressed with the sound of the car.. of course the cam also has to perform well.. I was looking at the polluter, the ms4, and my tuner really really likes the g5x3 so my guess is he can tune it well since that is what he has everyone get when they ask him about cam choice.. I probably wont do a custom cam so I can keep cost down.. Hell, Tick has the whole package for less than 700 right now!!

Advice? Input? I know I am asking to get flamed here but be honest guys..

Thanks

Custom cams really arent that much more expensive than a shelf grind. I always think a custom cam is the best for every situation. If you go to someone good and tell them what you want and dont want out of the car they can set you up perfect!

I was in the same boat as you, so I had Pat G spec one for me. costed $25, then went with the vendor he reccomended(EPS) for the Cam, pushrods and springs. total was $675+shipping. I'd contact Patrick G if you want a cam tailored to your setup.

Cutout can solve the sound problem, and custom cam's are only $25 dollars more. Do it right the first time.

check out the lpe gt1-1. aggressive idle and makes awesome power. 229/242/114 .631/.631. ptv is close but it fits with stock heads. I set my rev limiter to 6400rpm and was still making power. I'm upgrading my heads but on a stock motor I gained 60+ hp. good luck with the build

That will be a top end screamer. I would get 4:10 gear if youre drag racing.

I let them know I was only planning to go to a 3:73 gear with a 9" so they must have thought it was ok lol.. I figure it matters that I am racing 1/8th mile instead of 1/4

Our custom spec cams are the same price $399.00. We work off the cam work sheet that is filled out by the customer so we can meet there needs.

Trust me if your told them your goals and mods they spec'd the cam you would need. I had a F11 of their's and then a custom grind nitrous cam when I built my trans am. Great way to go!!!
