Default MP112 Cam?

Is this a good cam for an LS6 (headers and CAI) installing a Magnuson mp 112 roots blower?

Will it lope very much? Will it add any Hp/tq? Does it suck? Lol

Thanks!

u dont want a choppy cam with a 112 the rotors will hit each other unless u raise the idle past the chop

I doubt it, says lsa is 113 so it shouldn't be choppy.

I'm no expert so please correct me if I'm wrong and am giving bad advice.

I think it's the higher the lsa the less choppy it is.

He was referring to the noise they make when they have a rough idle. They call it rotor slap in the maggie world and it sounds gross.

That cam is a horrible choice for a 112! Any amount of overlap at all is a bad idea. The GT2-3 is a great 112 cam and makes great power.

I would want a little less overlap. This cam will have 5 degrees. Problem is the maggie 112 is almost maxed out on most setups. So any boost you bleed off through the exhaust is wasted. That being said 0-8 degrees is a good territory for a blower.

Cam has a ton of exhaust duration which will help.

As for chop it won't sound like a monster cam but it will have a pretty good lope to it. I've run similar size cams on a 117 and there is no hiding the fact you have a cam once you go over 220ish duration.

It will make more power with the cam than with the ls6 cam.

If you already have it run it and it will work perfectly fine. If you are looking at buying it contact one of the pros and have them spec you one - we have several popular ones here.

So if I put different pulleys on would it make it worse?

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on cams.

When you spin that blower too fast all you will do is make heat. I have tuned dozens of these blowers and know how to make them get down the track. We have has big heavy Silverado SSs go low 12's with 112s. One of the best cams for the 112 is the GT2-3!

I daily drove my S10 for over a year with a 5.3l and a 224 and it worked pretty good, but it was overcammed IMO. I made 500 to the ground through an 80e with it.

You don't want rotor slap..it sounds really bad. It sounded like it was coming apart at idle. Mine did it with the stock cam after I installed the 112. After TJ put a tune on it it's quiet again.

I DEFINITELY don't want rotor slap. Will this cam make that sound do you think?

That would drive me insane

A bigger cam won't make any more power with 5.7L's to feed with an MP112 on top. It will just make noise and eat fuel on the street. If you need the noise, go for it. If you don't, an LS6 cam, LS7 cam, GT2-3, or mild custom cam will work. Something along the lines of a 215/225 116lsa would be as big as I'd fool with. I just sold a 215/227 116 that worked great with a Maggie on a 6.0L. Don't get power crazy if you're dealing with an MP112. Use a 3"ish pulley and enjoy what it gives. Like mentioned earlier, spin it too fast....you make extra heat and very little extra hp.

You may want to post over in the GEN III internal motor section as well...here is what I got when I inquired about the same thing. Predator Z (Mark) is just as well known as Pat G for cam designs.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...aggie-cam.html

Also, the GT 2-3 cam specified earlier is almost exactly the same as the OE LS6 cam you already have.
GT2-3 - 207*/220* .571"/.578" 118.5 LSA
LS6 - 204*/218* .551/.555 117.5 LSA
