Paint & Body Work - Custom Lt1 bumper w/pics

It started when I saw the DH bumper thread and I thought it looked good so I photoshopped it on my car to get a better idea if it was something I wanted to do. It was so I did some research and started on this project.

This was what I had to give me a visual of what I needed to do. It's just 2 bumpers cut in half, the top Lt1, bottom Ls1, I should have cut underneath the turn signals but too late now I know.

This is why it would've made more sense to cut underneath the turn signal holes because the ls1 bumper ends are longer than the lt1 and had to be shortened to match up with the fenders.

The back side is plastic welded and the front is filled with urethane so its basically one piece now.

Im gonna end up repainting the car but I threw some paint on the bumper so I could at least make it presentable to an event I was drivin to which was a couple days away so I had to kick it in gear to get it done in time. Everybody knows when you rush you always mess up somethin and I did but itll get fixed no worries.

Couple things I didn't get a chance to do but I wasn't worried about it the front end is comin back off and right now I'm about the spray the engine bay clean things up a bit.

How long ago did you do this? I could have sworn I read about this already... 6LE is doing this bumper and the car you show is posted in that thread... Am I crazy???:eek2:

I did this a few months ago I put the finished pic up in one of the threads but I wanted to show the process in case anyone was interested.

nice update to an aging LT1 design! I've always liked the more aggressive looking headlights on the LT and the lower LS grill.. so perfect in my eyes. Now you just need an LS1 or a S/C... or both! I like the paint scheme also.

Thanks guys I've been workin on my center console I finally got that done but as for the car I've got a lt1 hybrid thing goin with this car I have the ls1 24x conversion, ls1 brakes, half ls1 bumper and I do have a supercharger but I'll save that info for another thread after its tuned.

Glad it made someone laugh. When I re-read it, I think it may have come off differently than I meant it. I was just cracking a joke about the racoon vs catfish comments everyone makes....not about your bumper OP. I think it looks extremely nice.

I can definitely appreciate the "different" factor of the bumper. I've seen this car a few times in person and I knew something was different about it but couldn't quite put my finger on it.

I guess I would call it limelight green its based off of the old hemi cuda green with a couple of tweaks and you're right it's mostly yellow with a bit of green.
