Default What do you suggest. Lifters

I recently had a lifter fail in my motor so im in search of probably the best lifers for under $300. Ive heard many good things about morel lifters but i cant see spending that much on lifters that will rarely see 3k+ rpm. I believe the previous owner put ls7 style lifters in the motor but purchased advance auto parts brand...any input will be greatly appreciated.

GM LS7 lifters all the way. I run them with my MS3, and haven't had one single problem. Plus, and a little less than $150, they are a good buy.

I bought two sets (for 2 different builds) from the local dealership....installed one set. I'm now pulling the heads back off, and tossing them in the garbage due to noise. I threw down the money for the good stuff this time, and will not be installing ls7 lifters ever again. Some people swear by them, but I'm not going down that road again.

Hence, I have a remaining NEW set in the boxes. If you really have your heart set on them...$110.00 shipped.

Hell of a great sale line, huh? lol

Not hijack this post but if you have a noisy valve train I doubt the LS7 lifters are to blame. If they were really the source of your noise every LS engine with LS7 lifters would be noisy, but they are not. It could just be the ramp rate on your cam, which you can't change. But I would also double check your push rod lengths before you just throw another set of lifters in there and button it back up. Just my opinion.

The only ones that I regularly ever saw was old Comp R's (think early 2000's) for LT1 cars. Never hear much on LS stuff having issues. Spring, yes single coil beehives, but not on lifters.

I am a fan of T-bar lifters from Morel, but thats a little more then 300, but Comp makes them now too.

This subject has been covered extensively in other threads. In my case, it most definitely is the lifters that are the culprit .....and I'm not alone. I've tried various oils/weights...and tried both .080 and .050 (currently) preloads.

I going with lunati lifters...cheaper than morel but its the same! And you dont need lifter trays, so you save a bit there. I was worried a bit with stock GM, even if I have h/c since 55k miles plus 60kmiles stock.. but my new cam is gonna have more lift and more agressive lobes...

Morel link bar lifters. Cost maybe $130 more than stock LS7 lifters... Completely worth it.

At $379 for their "Street link bar" lifters vs. their high-end non-link bar sets @ 579.00, I'm wondering how they're cutting costs on the link bar setup. I'd have to agree though....anything from Morel should be much nicer than OEM.
