Also in the second video he revs it up at 2 minutes if you don't want to watch entire video.

The big red race valve sounds awesome, just keep in mind a major factor will be the amount of boost you are running. Im sure you know that though.

Wow your car sounds like a freaking jet.

Didn't hear much cam lope are you running stock internals?, I highly doubt with that much boost could be the video quality.

Not true. Im running 5.5psi and I have the open Big red, and it runs fine. Works exactly how its supposed to.

He means the boost determines how loud it is... my race parts 50mm BOV sounds like a gunshot when it releases at 15psi.

o ok got ya. i thought he meant you have to make a certain amount of boost to run the Big Red. Ive heard people say youll lose power with that bypass valve if you dont make x amount of boost.... But yes, the more PSI you run the louder the bov is. smaller the pulley you run on the car, the louder the blower will be.

Just a pet-peeve of mine. These are not blow off valves. This term is highly mis-used in the appropriate application.
Blow off valves are for Turbos Only. - end of story. If someone is using a blow off valve on a belt driven FI car, they dont understand how they work, and are hindering optimum performance, fuel economy and longevity.

Bypass valves or Surge valves are used with Belt driven blowers, such as a centrifugal like Procharger.

They work differently and have their own applications.

Centrifugal type blowers - Even with relatively little increase in engine load at low throttle positions, air is still being pumped by the compressor on a belt driven system, unlike turbo, where boost is non-existent.

With a Belt driven system, this pumping volume is still greater than the engines airflow requirements at idle and low loads, so pressure builds between the throttle blade and the compressor. The added pressure on the compressor blades creates drag on the accessory drive that can make idle control difficult amongst blade stresses, more hp to continue the turn, and lower fuel economy.

A BOV at idle or high vacuum in the manifold will NOT let this pressurized air out where as a surge valve or bypass valve is open during vacuum and part throttle. Even with modification of the spring action of a turbo BOV which is set for a certain pressure level to allow air to escape, you will not get a proper response throughout all engine loads vs RPM. You may make it work for idle, (ex. 35Kpa Vac) but it will not work at 3000rpm with 22% TPS (throttle), real world talk

Leave the two alone and only use the appropriate device for your application.

A BOV will work on a centrifigal, and work well @ that. You just need to know what to do to make it work, and its a very simple change.
