So i just started up the camaro and the engine at idle is making a slight knocking sound . its coming from the left side facing the car . sounds like its under the valve cover. any idea what this could be?
could it be the lifters tapping?

More details please. Mileage amount you drive it mods etc. Any info you give us will help. Could be piston slap all the way up to spun bearing.

Sorry I can't see the signature on my phone. Judging by the mods you listed the valvetrain is the likely culprit. Does it change sound with rpm? Try taking a long screw driver and touch it to your valve cover then put your ear to it. That may give you an idea of what cylinder it's on.

yeah it the amount of taps per second increases with rpms increasing. do i need to take it to a shop or is there something i can try to do

could it be a header leak ?

It could be an exhaust leak. Its just hard to say without a video or hearing it in person. Try this you said its on the passenger side right? Crank the car up and pull off one spark plug wire at a time. When the tapping you hear goes away there you will know what cylinder its on. If the tapping doesn't go away but only changes tone then its most likely exhaust leak.
