Thanks for the compliments guys!.. I am the second owner of the TH. The white one is awesome but with 4 owners (all corners of country) and an auto it loses some points to me. The berger is nice and is an original owner but the conv and mostly the price hurt it. Click on the history checks on these and it tells everything. Let me know if anyone gets serious about buying my TH I have a few offers but there not quite what I'm willing to take at this point. Agian thank you and if any of you are/were in the path of those storms my prayers and thoughts are with you.

What was done to the Tom Henry SS to make a 380 HP rating? It only listed a chambered cat-back in the listing?

They're all 380hp -- like any other LS1 with a lid and catback :)

A lid and catback does not = 380hp. Better do your homework on what Mr Murphy did to achieve 380hp on the Phase one cars.

I won't profess to be a GMMG expert, so I only know what is listed on their website. I see chambered exhaust and a lid for performance modifications.

I've also been under the impression allllll these years that their ratings are flywheel. It's been stated by fbodfather than the 4th gens operate with approximately 18% driveline loss (A4 or M6) making that 380 at the crank approximately 312 at the wheels. This is consistent with a lid and catback car.

If I am missing something, please elaborate.

I concur.

The white one is so sharp looking, however with that price tag I would be the proud owner of a new ZR1!

Type in GMMG phase breakdown in the search heading. Ron from Vengence details whats in the 380HP cars and other phases. He would know because he worked at GMMG. I have seen in the Lot 1 for trans ams that the Blackbird makes 337 HP to the rear wheels.

That would be this post: http://ls1tech.com/forums/15301061-post8.html

Looks like aside from the lid and catback, there were MAF ends, ported manifolds, pulley, and tune. Pretty insignificant mods in the grand scheme of things (not meant to be insulting, just putting it into perspective).

Any reason why they advertised the modifications as just being a lid and catback?

Because like you just stated those were pretty insignificant things.;) I can only speak for the Intimidators, but they also had other minor alterations like 160 T stats, larger TB,and 3:73's. These were incorporated for overall driveability, not just bragging rights(although the Intimidators were black and had the highest H.P. of all the base cars.))

Sure you could have taken your LSX down to chubbys speed and muffler shop for an H&C package that would have easily eclipsed these cars horsepower ratings, but for perspective it never would have been 50 state emissions compliant, or covered under a factory GM warranty. 380 might not seem like much today, but back then it went heads up with the first year C5 Z06's

If you both truly believe those "other" modifications to be insignificant, then why do I sense smug condescension?

I don't see the problem in stating the actual modifications that were made by GMMG to make the TH cars (or any cars, for that matter). It would actually give more concrete answers to anyone interested in the vehicles. Unless, of course, some people actually like the insular nature of such knowledge.

I also am glad to know what the mods were on the 380HP cars. Heck I own two of these cars and I had no idea what it was they did to get it. I think they may have kept what they were donig under wraps so it wasn't common knowledge. These cars were so cool in many other ways from the numbers on the rear view mirror and windshield to the badging, and the low numbers that were made etc. Hey demonspeed I was looking at some of your old cars and I used to have a 5.0 mustang and my brother had an IROC. We raced them several times. You have had some cool cars and your current SS looks good.

Thanks for the compliments, Jim. I've had a lot of fun over the years!

I know what you mean about these GMMG cars being so cool. I drooled over them in HS, and the only reason I don't have a TH car now is because I want to mod, mod, mod! I simply couldn't do that to a TH -- they're just too special. I'd still love to own one, but I need more disposable income before that happens. However, I take my SS to Tom Henry for it's annual inspection as the dealership is 10 miles from my house. That's something I bet most TH owners can't say ;)

But mine came with 638hp, 1g+ of handling and 200mph top speed. I thought I got a bargain? :D

No matter what I still believe down the road the GMMG cars will offer a premium over any other 4th Gen again these are the most documented cars IMHO in history even more than 1st Gen’s, and present 5th Gen’s. Matt’s attention to detail really made these car shine Matt made sure these cars could not be duplicated “cloned” as he kept a very tight grip on emblems, gauges, ect….
