Default 2 Silverados Settle a Debate (Duramax vs 5.3L) *Vid*

Camera is in my truck (the 5.3L). Forgive the crappy vid quality, i was recording and driving at the same time and this was unplanned.

Both are bone stock, the 5.3 is a reg cab and the Dmax is a crew cab.

I gave the dmax a slight jump so it could downshift and be in boost before i hit it. When we went heads up i jumped out almost 2 truck lengths off the hit.

40 roll to 90

The diesel owner expected an easy win and his friends were talking some smack...not so much now.

wow that was a slaughter! Though I gotta tell you that the duramax HAD to have been spinning it's tires. Hell, on dry ground those will spin there tires at 40mph with the craptastic OEM tires.

That could have been a factor. We'll see how the dig turns out on a dry road.

My brothers truck is stock and spins them on dry ground like that. Then when he lets up, he loses boost and it's all over. Trust me I'm not saying he is gonna win, just not lose THAT bad! lol

You guys will be jealous of my daily drivers: I go between my ZX14 Ninja, my GTO, and my wifes new Denali for my work an back duties. :

I didnt think I would be the one to be " that guy" but looks like I am.
Put some weight on the hitch and the outcome will change drastically. I would have thought the duramax would have faired better unloaded though.

I really dont get the guys that dump huge somes of cash into a diesel powered truck and think they have a muscle car.

It is pretty cool to put, lets say 12000 pounds on the hitch and pull up to another diesel powered truck with a similar load at a red light.....03 stock duramax 1 - 06ish dodge with a cummins 0. Slowest race I have ever been in and only one of a couple I can claim over Sticks.

some people don't get it and that's ok. there's something cool about being able to tow 15,000# without breaking a sweat, unhook and beat a stock C5 WITH your wife and 2 kids in the truck. and it's still the DD

it's just like any owner out there, some are cool to talk with and respect other vehicles and some owners (whatever the brand) think they're sh** doesn't stink.

I'm actually surprised at the outcome since a stock LBZ gets up decent for a stock truck and it was probably an xcab or CC while the 5.3 was a reg cab.

good kill though

sounds like the OP has a nice talon as well!!

I think it's fun to rape the pickup truckers who think they're fast... It's puppy kicking but most of them need to be knocked down a few pegs. Some actually are fast but I haven't come across any in my area.

The idea of it is cool yeah. I raced a duramax 2 runs from a 20.. I was stock with passenger and he had 1 too. He was programmed supposedly and I had filter and cutout 245 street tires. I won by atleast 3 cars before I shut down. Then be wanted a dig and I thought he'd take it but I hooked good and left him. Fun races.. they do run good for what they are. But I hate the ones who think they have a zr1 when they drive a diesel. That's pretty much only stuff around here to race. Good kill btw OP. Wish I had a nice dd besides my camaro

I am jealous! Still love my simpleton truck though!

In Iowa I don't have too many options as far as daily drivers for the weather out here

probably a typical plug-in programmer. those guys usually think they are fast

leaving with boost plays a huge deal with the diesels. if I leave in 4wd and close to 10psi or more, there's not much out there that will beat me from a dig. driver mods go a long way. don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that mine is blazing fast either, its truly only a very high 12 sec truck and there are plenty out there much faster.

it's all what you like
