Hey everyone,
I was curious what jacks and stands you guys use for your LS1's. I'm about to get a set and wondered what brands, if any, to stay away from. Also, is a low profile jack necessary?
Thanks for your help!

I've never had a low profile jack until recently and I love it. I bought the nicer one from HF for around $150 and use 4 of the 6 ton stands. Two are orange from HF and the other two are another brand but you can tell they came from the same factory.

Have an old HF 2 1/2 T floor jack...slowly creeps down, but this thing is like 20 years old.
I have 2 old steel wheel ramps, 2-2T, and 2 6T stands.... usually put the front tires on the ramps and the rear on the 6T stands...don't use the 2T stands much any more.
I do like the aluminum speed jacks....but if mine still works :bored:

A horrible heavy jack from AA. Make sure you have some jackstands because the thing likes to give out randomly...and is hard to lower, you go to twist, doesn't turn, and then twist harder just a little bit and the thing comes crashing down. Fucking hate it. Just some basic jack stands though.
Thanks to this thread I just ordered the 3 ton HF jack and jack stands. I'll be happy to have something that I feel comfortable using to lift up my car.

This one is the deal:

3 inches to 20+ inches of lift, I think so.

I have a pair of old Allied 3 ton stands that I inheritated from my father that work great, but I also picked up a set of HF 6 tons stands that have I prefer. They are beefy, solid and have a reassuring thunk thunk thunk to the height ratchet lock that let me know they mena business. I am much more confident in the larger base of the 6T versus the 3T. The 6T stands are also nice height wise as I hate working near the max height extension of the 3T stands. But my 3T stands are necessary as the 6T will not fit under my Fiance's Mazda.
01ssreda4, I really like that 2T lo-pro HF lift. My old Allied 2.5T is starting to show its age. I might have to go put my hands on one at HF soon! BTW, I love the last review on the lift where "bimmerboy" claims the welds are "cheesy". Very technical term there boy :eyes:

I just bought a nice 3-ton low-profile jack from Harbor Freight...problem is, they put the sale price on there about a week and a half ahead of the sale. Idk why they do that, but it pisses me off. I'll be back to get the difference, they're good about that at least. I made sure to get the warranty though lol

BluePoint alumunum stands. The work great. Just don't use them on your dually, they will probably crush under the weight. But for my GTO they work fine.

I have 2 sets of 6 ton jackstands; bought the chrome pair years back when I got my fbody from Sam's club,
recently bought the 2nd pair of Torins from Amazon.
Also have 2 sets of rhino ramps.

BEST jack ive used is a Arcan XL-35!!!
Its 3.5" lowered, and lifts to 21 1/4". Its also a 3.5 ton jack, so its heavy but works incredibly well!

I just picked up a HF 3-ton for $69 w/ coupon. Its lift
range is a bit short and its minimum height a bit high,
compared to better ones. But my better ones quit on
me (flood, and crushed).
Jackstands, I rarely use since I have built a set of 4
pedestals. Use the stands only for holding up an axle.
The pedestals are much more stable and taller.

I have the same one. Works great for lifting my Camaro, Cobalt, and Focus. If we had any bigger vehicles I would have went one size up but for what we have it works great.

I used the harbor freight 2.5 ton jack and their jack stands. They work fine and for the price you can't go wrong
