Default Need new water pump

My water pump periodically leaks and now there is ( I believe its comming from the water pump) a squeak. So the pump is on its way out and needs changed.

Now I've got a used one but its been sitting for awhile now, and I am afraid after talking to a guy at work that the o-rings are dried out on the inside and not sure if I want to take the time to change that one and have it leak too. And im not sure where to buy new orings for it.

So I was looking at just buying a new ac delco water pump seeing as from what I could find is that is the best bet for a mechanical pump. Would this pump here work as a direct replacement with no issues ACDelco 252-846.

thanks

I think napa here in town has a new WP for 180. I don't waste my time at auto zone any more and I don't really want a remanufactured pump

My pump went out a couple months back and I ended up going to advance auto (or oreillys) and buying a new pump there and I've had no issues. Its not a rebuilt and looks just like the oem one, now if you you use this code (RAF7JA1101) like I did it also takes 35 bucks off the price of the pump . Mine ended up being just around 100 bucks with antifreeze and such....

Rock Auto has a decent price on an ls2 pump. If you decide to swap intake manifolds later the ls2 works better with the FAST intake.

Do you know a part number for that?

And is there any differences for the installation like gasket wise or anything?

As far as I know, the installation is exactly the same. Almost every parts store now only sells the ls2 style pump for ls1 f-bods. Maybe someone that knows otherwise will chime in.
