Hey all,

I was looking at installing Tint in my T-A here in Jax... I've always had dark 5% tint all around w/ the front windshield brow's on all my vehicles pasing the line like 2 inches in TX.. Generally, I wouldn't have problems... How do most of the F-Body owners have their rides tinted here in Jax?... & if you do have dark tint (5%) is that generally strictly enforced here... or is it pretty lax?

Also, I got quoted $170 for 3m tint on all windows w/ the front windshield brow @ 5%... Is that a fairly reasonable price... Or is there anywhere else that uses good quality tint at a better price that a fellow member has good feedback on.

I have 5% on mine and got a few tickets here and there and never had a problem. I was also in the Navy down there and never had a problem on base either.

I've never had any problems with tint here. I had 5% all around on my previous car and now 15% all around. Never been stopped or questioned. Then again never been pulled over either.

That seems like a fair price. I paid $200, no front brow.

I just got mine done at rolling sound on beach. Pretty good job i must say. mine is legal though i didnt want to take risk of getting hassled even though i know many jso officers. Not to hijack the thread but I have organized a meet every other saturday in op. Next one is 03/17 if your interested and can make it. Pm me or look at the jacksonville threads in the regional forums.

I also had the front brow done about 2 inches lower than the AS-1 line. And then I actually had my whole windshield tinted with 35%. Everytime I got pulled over at night I would just roll down both windows and flip my interior lights on and I never had a single problem. And I actually got stopped a lot. Lol.

first off, go to rollin sound at the avenues and see what they quote you. i get all my work done there. while they will not warranty the illegal tint, they will do a good job and will make sure that the rear hatch glass is done right. my guess it around 150 for the job.
my dad has 20% on his truck all around and has only had something said to him by a douche cop that pulled him over saying he was going 58 in a 30.. needless to say he wasnt. i have whatever is closest to illegal so ive never run into the issue that you are worried about. i only see it being an issue if you get pulled over

I got pulled over specifically about my tint. I was ticketed for it and just removed it altogether on the front windows, which sucked. It was a bit south of Jax, by FHP and it was several yrs ago. That day, they were just sitting there watching for those who's tint looked to dark and mine was one... I had ALL my windows tinted and only the windshield(which isn't allowed to be fully tinted in the 1st place) wasn't 5%. The W/S was 35% and he didn't notice. I'm thinking it's just about impossible to test that one anyway, w/o taking it out.

I have 5% all around, but none on windshield, and its been like that for almost 2 years. I've never even been questioned about it, and I got a lot of tickets when I first got my car. However, I dont have ac so my window or both are almost always down

It seems like a good deal. 3m is a good brand

Didn't tint shops use to give out a card certifying tint
legality, so you could show it to Officer Richard?

UPDATE:
Thanks to everyone for their input & replies... It is much obliged!

@ Bandit... I ended up calling rollin sound off of the avenues, & they quoted me $10 less for everything and the tint they were going to use was suntech... Which I've heard is a very good tint brand.....

But for $10 more I figured I'd go to Advanced Window Tinting, and get all windows done in 3M..... man does tint make a difference....

Also @ Silver04goat, I would definetly be interested in going to a meet. If my schedule isn't too crazy, I will definetly either let you know or keep my eye on the thread.

@JimmyBlue... I assume the tint places would not bear the risk of giving someone a card when they knowingly install illegal tint on their vehicle, might open them up to the possibility of some liability.... But thats just my 5 cents.... Assuming you meant that they would give you a card after they have intalled "legal" tint, I don't see why not. I've even heard of some places that put a small sticker inside between the window and the tint, which certifies its legality.

The legal tint limit in FL is 28% on the front windows and 15% on the back including the rear glass. Anything else you can get ticketed for by law. Also the windshield cant be tinted under the AS1 line. Just FYI.

As others have said, immediate jax area not too strict. Ride I-95 through georgia & troopers could hassle you.

Yes Ga can be overly strict especially in the smaller cities and counties where revenue is needed

Thanks!... I figured hopefully it should help when the heat of the summer starts to kick in... A black interior can get a little hot.
