Default 2006 Vortec truck DBW pedal - any other options?

I recently swapped a 2006 5.3l L33 motor and 4l60e into my 1994 land cruiser. The DBW pedal that came with this motor is not working well in regards to fitment and placement of the pedal. There's just not enough room in the foot well for this huge pedal.

Is there another option or am I stuck with this one?

Thanks!

yes there is two options, (1) you may have to cut, chop, weld, and maybe even combine the two pedals stock/dbwpedal or (2) look into the lokar pedal. dec010974.

I cut about 5" out of the pedal arm and put a 1" piece at the joint to move the pedal closer to the brake pedal. Works awsome, I will take some pics tomorrow.

Check into the Monte Carlo ss pedal. I've read that its a little smaller and easier to fit.
If that doesn't work then go aftermarket. I think Lokar just released one.

Here are some pics of my gas pedal in my Chevelle. Not the greatest welds, was in a hurry.

I used a 2006 Corvette pedal by swapping two wires on the wiring connector. Painless describes this wire swap in their Vortec GenIV installation instructions. Similar to a previous post a friend used the Monte Carlo pedal from an 06-07 without the wire change from the truck harness.

Nice - thanks for the tip. I just pulled the manual and have the information. So it's safe to assume that this is a direct swap and the vette pedal will work with my existing TAC module? This truck pedal has to go - it's rubbing on the steering column and the pedal position makes my leg hurt.

I am describing a pedal setup used in a GenIV truck 5.3. If you have a 58x crank then it will work. If you have a 24x crank then the 2006 Corvette pedal does not work. This pedal does not use a TAC module but is direct wired to the ecm(E38). Sorry for any confusion.

Truck pedal cut shorter. Also check with Psiconversions here. They have some pedal swaps.

yep - figured that out after talking with someone who did an L59 swap. The 2006 vette pedal won't work.

here's the pedal that I currently have:

From what I have learned from another person who has done this, a 2005 truck pedal can be made to work with the matching tac module and modified harness.

Old thread, but I'm in the exact same situation. LQ9 Escalade motor in a '91 Land Cruiser. The DBW throttle pedal is HUGE and angled so that it just can't mount in the TLC footwell. If anyone has solved this, I would like a few pics and any information you can share. The Colorado pedal looks better but I've heard you can't just swap pedals, even if they're close cousins.

If you are using a Gen 3 ECU, then you must use a pedal that matches the vehicle. Gen 3 electronics use a TAC module. Gen 4 electronics do not and parts are not interchangeable between Gen 3 and Gen 4.

This will be my first post. and I thought this might help.
The 2006 Truck DBW pedal is 2 parts, the large metal mount can be removed from the plastic pedal and a smaller or thinner base fabbed up or mount it directly if the location warrants it IE: no carpet underneath.
The tac module is the same the only difference is the sub harness and the earlier design 2003/2005 will not connect to the 2006 pedal.
Just like the LED PRNDL cluster it's a 1 1/2 year upgrade before Gen4 computers.

The Escalade pedal has a serious curve in it. Apparently it mounted above the brake pedal and curved way out to the right and down to the pedal. My Land Cruiser has a steering shaft going through the firewall where this thing wants to mount. I might have to cut the pedal arm off and graft something there that goes straight down. Hate to create a hacked up solution like this but it might be the only way.

I straitened mine a bit, cut it shorter, remounted the original pedal.
Post 9 pic above.

The pedal that was pulled out of the 2006 Escalade is all plastic. The arm and the pedal are injection molded. Looks like the one pictured in Post 10 above.

Not sure what your floor boards look like but you could also try a DBW pedal out of a 94-02 Chevy diesel. You'd need to swap a couple wires in the plug but a few guys have used it for Gen III swaps in 73-87 Chevy trucks.

Been working on swapping an 05 l33 into my 87 k10. I had read somewhere people were using Malibu DBW pedals in them because they fit very well and supposedly just need to swap a couple of wires when wiring in the different connector. I have looked looked into many wiring diagrams and tried different wiring but can't get it to read. It is a pedal for a 09 malibu and my computer is from an 05 Silverado. Wondering if I am wasting time trying to get this to work and if I should just modify the truck pedal to fit in better?
Thanks!
