Its dirty and the blockoff plate isnt shown, but has anyone mounted their lightweight battery here on the frame rail?
I guess you can, but it will probably be too close to the heat generating from the headers or exhaust manifold.

I was thinking about wrapping it in some heat tape or something, some sort of insulation. I just didnt know if this has been done before. The small batteries look narrow enough to not be hanging off the rail which would give at least 4 inches of clearance to the primary. I might just have to try it and see if I burn up the battery.

kinda defeating the purpose of being able to work on the back cylinders easier if you put the battery there.

Yea I have to agree, I would move it away from the heat.

Just move your stocker to the rear?

Putting it in the rear adds 30lbs, defeating the purpose of getting a lightweight battery. I wanted to put it there because since it's still in the engine bay I don't need a cutoff switch, I drop 20lbs going to a 11lb battery, and I move that 11lbs toward the rear of the car by 4 feet.

.
I was having wheelie issues, and wanted to save weight.
I was thinking about putting a battery up front.
To save weight on the 2 big welding cables, and get some more nose weight.
I talked to 2-3 battery experts and they all say the battery must be in front of the fuel cell, or it will be too hot??
Especially the new lithium??

Putting the battery in the back isn't a weight reduction mod, it's a weight shift to the rear. I have seen someone put the little battery on the hoax delete plate, but they built a bracket to do so, up higher and away from the header. They also used a pretty thick plate so it would be strong enough. I really advise against that little battery though, been there, and as soon as its cold out it won't be enough to start the car, leave the radio on, or dlec water pump or something for 10 min and it wont start the car, etc. You're a lot better off just putting the battery in the back, and run a good one, the weight shift to the rear will help more then the weight you lose keeping the little battery in the engine bay

^ JL is right. I am not a fan of the mod as I would have to delete using my T-tops but at the same time he wants to "buck-knife" my A/C belt off and remove my radio/speakers and install a different exhaust....
Opps sorry I was spacing out there.
Definitly shifting weight to the back, probably adds a little weight due to the proper cable you need to run to the front.

I don't have a radio anymore, and the car is garaged in a heated garage year round and doesnt do any daily driving. I don't think I'll have any traction issues with my bolton lt1 warranting putting the big battery over the rear tires. The bracket on the firewall is a good idea.

This is why Im going to move mine back there. There is a lot of room, there its really out of the way doe working on the motor.
