I have a shifting rpm question????? I have a 2000 ta with intake and headers basically a full bolt on car but I have a stock cam and a ss4000 yank. I am shifting at 6250. Is that about right or am I over rev. Engine?

You are at the upper limits of the stock cam with that shift point. If it was my car I'd leave it be. Remember though that the stock pushrods and valve-springs wont like any more rpm as they are barely adequate to begin with.

I don't see the need to shift any higher than 6,200.
Doesn't the engine make peak horsepower at 5,800 RPM?
Not to mention, it's really not worth going that high in the RPM bands, that's when **** starts to break.

I have seen E.T improvements shifting at 6400 on LS1 cars.
The motor is still pushing hard at 6500 and gives quite a kick when you shift.
However, stock lifters won't live for long. After several passes the lifters started to make noise on 2 cars. Stock springs aren't much better. 1 car touched the valves with pistons when over revved to 7400 (guy shifted from 3rd to 2nd).
If you have stock valvetrain, then it isn't a good idea to rev higher than 6200 because something will break for sure.
A good cam with upgraded valvetrain (lifters, pushrods, timing chain, sprocket and springs) is neccessary to rev higher than 6200, a good stock bottom end can handle 6800 no problem.
