Default LS 3 crate motors..... Which one?

Hey guys, I am in the market for a new GMPP crate engine. I have my eye on one of the LS3 crates. I like the EFI 525 but, I am a little worried about the street manners of the ASA cam with the 110 deg ls. I plan on installing the engine in a 67 nova with t56 trans. The car has power brks and AC as well as Heidts front and rear clips (9 inch rear with 4 link) What do you guys recommend? The 480.... 515......or the 525 hp?

youve got a 4 link rear and your worried about street manners? a good tuner will be able to massage a bit of the bump out of the stick

I'd just get the basic one and with the money saved stab it with an LG cam with springs and pushrods and a tune, like a g5x3 or whatever their new one is. Those cams are making like 500 RWHP NOT flywheel. Guys are daily driving with those cams on vettes you my friend have a 67 Nova your a big boy so get the big boy stuff street manners will be fine stop worrying about it. You won't regret it sir

Personally...I'd find the least expensive way to get a longblock (like...maybe order a replacement engine for a Camaro rather than a GMPP crate engine)...or look for a 6.2 liter truck engine or something similar in a scrap yard...then go to Speartech or somewhere similar for a controller/harness combo...pick the cam you want, and have fun.

I'd search for the actual LS3 first rather than say an L99 (lower compression DOD engine). I think you'd be out the door for a lot less money if you go that route.
