Looking at buying a 01 nhra formula

2001 Pontiac Firebird Formula NHRA Special Edition.5.7 LS1, 6 speed. New BFG 018's. 127k miles. Red with Dark Gray interior. Very nice car. Lots of mods and extras.

Modifications include:
BMR full length torque arm
BMR extreme 1.25 rear roll bar
BMR Low profile subframe connectors
Front QA1 12way adjustable coil overs
Rear Qa1 12way Adjustable shocks
LG Motorsports G5x1 228/232 cam
Pacesetter longtube ceramic headers
SLP intake lid w/ K/N air filter
MSD 8.5 wires
Mecham Designs 4 port Ram Air Hood
American Racing Rebel wheels 18x9 18x10

Around what would be a good price to pay for a car like this, the guy wants 9500$

I bet he does want $9500. He's not going to get it either unless he find's a very unknowledgeable buyer.
I would not offer a penny more than $8,000 and that is really pushing it. $7,000 would be way more comfortable and even then.... The miles are way too high for anything over that. Just think what the car will need over the next year or two. Ouch!! Now try selling it in a hurry if you need $$. A huge hit to your wallet. Be careful.
** Just wanted to add that www.kbb.com shows an '01 NHRA Formula like this in the $6,500 -$6,900 range (in my zip code) which is why I said I would feel more comfortable around $7,000. If the mods are everything you desire and the car has really been kept nice, then maybe up to that $8,000 mark, but you would be paying a lot at that point.

i've got a customer that's a wholesaler. he often tells me that KBB tends to show prices on the high side?

have you checked edmunds.com?

I agree. KBB is a tad high in areas which makes the price the seller is asking even worse. I'm just trying to give the OP a little hope with negotiations if he really wants the car and it is decent. Both our points are good negotiating tools but who knows if the seller will listen. He may just hold firm on price for months until reality hits him in the butt .:buttkick:

that's another problem. sellers of cars such as this more often than not decide that it's worth X amount, because a friend heard from his brothers cousins 4th uncle twice removed that it is worth massive money.

everyone overprices their stuff.
