I've been looking and have been late on a few pairs and others want almost new price... soooo....
I looked at SDPC and a new pair, not really that bad I guess.
So used 500-600 is about average, then you need springs for that "big cam" right (mine are 475-500 for the "kit" *spring, locks, retainers, seals) so now we're at 1000-1100 roughly, *PLUS shipping..............with USED heads :bang:
Brand new, with the springs I need, TMD 1200ish :D
Guess you know what way I'm going
-9063 LS3 CYL. HEAD
NON CNC
STOCK VALVES
PRC .675" SPRING KIT
$1185 SHIPPED
Just an FYI for you guys looking for LS3 heads and not having much luck.

Pace has complete ls3 for less than $700 a pair. Then the spring spring kit you need.
I have been using the Lunati kits and have worked great.

315 each or 630 for the pair then add the springs you'll need for that big cam (approx 400-500) and you're right back at the 1000+ and add S&H too  correct ?
and I am thinking about the CNC option.....while I'm on the phone anyway ;)

thats not complete. rockers and stands and rocker bolts not included. 140 for stands and 8 intake rockers from gm. then you should do the trunion upgrade since that comes with new rocker bolts and the bolts are outrageous prices from gm. i think im into mine for around 1000 not including springs and i reused 8 exhaust rockers :bang:

Of couse it is without the rockers and stands.
How big of a cam are we talking about.

Will be buying some ls3 heads for a friends build I am doing for him, was wondering were to look, will be a 427 stroker 6.0 block, figure a little port job on them done by me to save cash and pick up some cfm, so used will probably be the way for us to go, we will see.

Just keep your eyes open on here. I paid 525$ shipped for 2 heads and all 16 rockers and stands. They were brand new in the GM boxes still complete. I sent them out to be fully ported, milled .050", reshape valves and a valve job for 505$. I have 1030$ in new fully worked heads. Then I found a set of new prc .675" spring on clist fot 50$. Just keep looking for that perfect deal.

Well, seems I have plenty of time as of 9am today.
Wife just got laid-off, and in todays market....I think I need to sit on the $$$$ for a little bit.
She broke down because she wanted to see me happy and told me to get the motor done.... I can't do it knowing we might need it. I have to keep a roof over our head, food in our belly, and a 12y.o. daughter......first and foremost.
Damnit....glad I didn't pull the trigger and oder everything Monday now. :bang:

My heart goes out to you and your family. I have been laid off 9 times in 8 years by differant companies in the past, so my project is ALSO moving at a pitifully slow pace. Keep the faith brother. Your doing the right thing. It will pay off in the long run. Im glad now to be working at a comfortable job where it seems (for the time being) I wont have to worry about it for a little while. Again, good luck weathering the storm. Eric L

Yeah, take care of your own first. The car will just be that much sweeter once you do get it done.

Sorry to hear about your wife being laid off. Life always seems to get in the way of fun!
My wife has had on and off employment for the last few years , short term to short term, never a permanent spot. Never really know how long it will be between jobs.
It's the way of the world theese days.

Thanks, she feels pretty bad but I told her its what I gotta do. I have the money in the bank from the sale of my 406 SBC and the money for the new build sitting with it....I'll be good for a few months anyway :|
Maybe we'll get lucky and something will come through in a week or so ???
And I'm getting some Lottery tickets too :eyes:

As others have already said, you're certainly doing the right thing by your family. I always wonder when I see some of these crazy exotic builds by younger guys (not usually in the carb section....imagine that) and wonder where they get all the disposable income for such great parts all at once. Then a few months later you'll see them parting it out to pay off "some debt". Hmmmmm......wonder where that came from? :eyes:
Best of luck and I hope things come back around for you guys soon.

You young guys need to save some of your pay, no matter how hard it might seem right now. Even if you have to ditch the beer and cigs!
It can look hopeless, but let me tell you a short story...
I had a great job with an even better pension, but when I was 41 my company got sold and the new owners couldn't (or wouldn't) fund our pension. So, there I am at 41 with very little in savings and a "frozen" pension in my parent company that would no longer grow (which I'm now getting a whopping $670/mo from and doesn't even cover our "retiree" healthcare premiums). At this point, we decided that I would save the maximum amount allowed by our new company's 401k and the IRS. Now, 17 yrs later, I am able to retire early (and can't even draw on my IRA for 1 1/2 yrs), even after losing 45% through the 2008 crunch. It's all about what you can put away and invest sensibly...

Me 44...her 41. I can't see 20+ years each and being able to retire. I seen some numbers for health insurance
What that saying ? Only the good die young....or ....

FUCK IT|, work till I'm dead, but I'm gonna have as much fun as I can on the wayPretty much same boat I'm in, 38 with no savings or 401k. Basically what happens when you tell the wrong guy at your "good" job to fuck off. Even if he deserve it, wasnt worth my career. Now here I am, workin a shit go between job for a shit company that has no retirement, hardly no insurance, and absolutely no pay and pregression:argh:....live and learn I guess.....plus work till I die :( .
