mail order tune need slight retune after ls6 manifold swap?
as of right now i have a frost mail order tune.(its great) in my 01 i have a complete 98 swap manifold and all. would i need to send in the pcm to frost again for a slight retune when swapping to the ls6 or should i be fine?

I have a 01 z with a 98 complete swap intake to oil pan so no ls6 manifold. I'm swapping my ls1 manifold that's egr equipped for the ls6 one. I told frost my car is an 01 with a complete 98 swap. What I'm asking is would I need a slight tune adjustment when I put the ls6 manifold on.

When I got the car the egr was taken off already. It still had the 01 PCM but frost did remove air etc. since its still the 01 PCM wouldn't whatever needs to be tweaked for 98-00 pcm already be in my 01 PCM?

You could put your injectors from your current intake in the new LS6. You should have the 28s in yours if its from a 98, and the new LS6 may have the 26s, since it is from an F-body. You don't know for sure what is in there. I would play it safe, you dont want to be running 26s, with a PCM thinking it has 28s. That would ensure that the injectors in the car match what's in your current PCM, by keeping them with the engine. It only takes a few minutes to swap them over, I'd move the rails and all. You could sell the unwanted injectors to FIC, that your not using, you can probably get like 30-40 bucks for them as cores, to recoup some of your intake upgrade cost.
You will gain a little VE (but it will be small, with stock unported heads, and a stock cam), which will make your car run a little leaner in OL, under about 4k RPM. You may notice a little hesitation on throttle transitions, probably minor. Above 4K the computer will be making fueling calculations based primarily upon MAF frequency, and the SD VE table influence will be minimal. In CL your PCM will be using the O2 sensors for fueling, so it won't be an issue there. I expect that since it is a mailorder tune Frost has probably erred a little to the safe side on the PE. I would put it all together, and test drive the car. If it drives well, feels responsive on throttle transitions etc,I wouldn't waste the money on another tune. If you notice any hesitation or drivability issues, get it tuned.

The 98 motor has a different cam from your 01, and with the LS6 intake will have different volumetric efficiency than what your tune provides for. Both the 98 and the 01 have 28 lb. injectors so you're fine there. I would have it retuned for the different cam and intake if I were you.

I believe frost tuned it for the 98 cam since that's the engine I told him that was in my car. A lot of people get away with just slapping an ls6 on a stock 98 no problems right?
