Im interested in a goat but wondering what kind of problems they run into if they are driven hard alot? And what are some quick mods to do to them once acquired?

I would say I drive mine pretty hard and I haven't ran into any problems, but I don't go to the track and try to hook hard from a dig. If you do that you'll break some of the weak stock axle stubs sooner or later. The "quick mods" would be the same bolt on stuff that you would do to anything else. Better CAI, headers, exhaust.
Would you get an m6 or a4?

I drive mine sort of hard as well and no issues.. Had it for a year now.

Like thehazz12 mentioned, just your basic bolt on's. If you have the money I would invest in a vararam or a svedespeed intake. Both great products. The svede intake costs more but also looks better than the vararam.

Either an auto or m6 you will need to pay attention on the drivetrain. If you have a m6 they like to snap if you dump the clutch at a high rpm if you hook well at the track. Auto's have less shock so it would probably be harder to snap them like you can in a m6.

sticky tires and a tune is good since these cars have heat soak.

Good choice with the m6...much more fun. But what Ls powered Camaro topped out at 120mph????

I have a 04. Only had it about five weeks but i drive it pretty hard sometimes. The car just feels very very solidly built. I just intend on adding some boltons and a cam in the future

Radius rod bushings and upper strut mount bushings are pretty much required if they've never been replaced. The stock pieces are junk and prone to collapsing and making the front end sloppy. Also the stock rear springs sag.

Other than that, the usual mods are valid on the GTO. i.e. CAI, headers, exhaust, etc etc.

2-3 shift pattern sucks major ass.

m and f auto sales in albuquerque is selling one for like 19k. magna charger, tune, exhaust ext. 25k miles on it. red with red seats. i would get it but im almost done paying on mine

I find it preferable to the overly notchy action of all the aftermarket alternatives.

Despite the length of the throws I could shift my 06 quite fast.

You'll want to get the suspension inspected thoroughly. Bushings are crap, struts are crap, many of them were built out of alignment with the body from the factory as well.

I completely agree.

Had I been into modifying the car and racing it regularly I would have swapped it out (I LOVE how notchy my Pro 5.0 is in my SS). Since my '05 was a DD into the city, I never had the ambition to change it. It was smooth and I never missed a gear when pounding it. The throw wasn't even that bad, either -- the handle simply couldn't take my abuse :)
