Hi all. I've been on LS1Tech for a while now although i usually dont take the time to post, just like to read up. Was usually in the cts-v section since i've owned two '05 V's. Anyway I picked up (actually inherited) a 2002 Camaro SS 35th anniversary today. the car is very clean for a driver. it has about 38k miles on it. the original floormats are still in plastic and the owner had the bio sheet from the dealer listing the slp options. the only flaw on the exterior are the stripes in the front have alot of rock chips. where can i get replacements? chevy dealer?
engine has good power and the trans shifts like butter(it is an A4). only thing is i noticed the smell of a coolant leak. i had a '96 SS and a 2000 SS over 8 years ago and i do remember having coolant leaks but dont remember the details. do these cars have coolant leak issues? and other issues to look for?? i took a couple quick pics with the iphone when i got back home.

i guess my mods on my 2010 SS M6 will have to wait now.

Looks nice, look under the water pump for a leaking weep hole which would indicate it needs a water pump. Simple fix.

Congrats! Welcome back to the cheap f-body world -- I made the plunge back in this pool last month :)

Weep Hole or the Water Pump Gaskets and you can sometimes find the Stripes on E-Bay under SLP Camaro ! I just picked up my 28th Camaro a 2002 Camaro SS w/ 9925 miles on it !!!

I noticed you tried to sneak one past us...looks like a 5th generation is sharing some garage space with your new one! The black one here is my wife's RS...I'm having a hard time not swapping my 2000 for a 5th Gen SS!

Try stencils and stripes or classic industries. I have used both with great results and they are about 1/2 the price of the dealer- and you know they are OEM quality to avoid fading
