Stock Exhaust Manifolds,Chevelle
My Buddy has started a LS project, like everyone else he is on a tight budget, headers seem to be a big expense. We were wondering what stock exhaust manifolds would fit on a 69 Chevelle with a LQ4/LQ9 ? Thanks!

The Truck manifold will most likely come into contact as they are too wide. Stock 4th or 5th Gen F-Body are your best bet. Vette one will not work either. They exit too far forward (mid area).
Suggest you reseach in the Sticky's on the top of this section to see what other have already used or found not to work..

I have 2 sets of '98 camaro manifolds (for sale). I fit them in my '67 over the weekend and they fit great, I assume the front stub region is similar enough to be true on his 69.
Caution that 98-99 and 00-02 are different. Besides the EGR bungs, the later ones have a big rectangular/trapezoid flange on one manifold, and it hits the frame. The older ones have a smaller flange and clear everything. Got some pictures on my phone, will try to upload over lunch, but send me a PM and I'll get you these manifolds I have at a good price.

Passenger side fits amazing, just like old car manifolds:
Driver side fits equally well, just couldn't take a picture that captures the niceness, maybe should have taken a picture from underneath. Anyway, looks like my brake lines are in the way, but they actually clear pretty well too.
and a picture basically looking down the firewall just inboard of the brake master:
The EGR ports can be tapped and plugged with NPT plugs on the super cheap. Or you can saw them off and well a patch.
For reference, this engine is installed with the Hooker standard location motor mount plates and Energy suspension poly motor mounts.

I used the truck manifolds and cut the flanges off and welded on V-Band clams. Clear great and work awsome. When I flip them for turbos it will be easy to attach.

Nos327 can u take closer pics of the difference in the manifolds? Do you have a 67 chevelle?
I fit a set of 4th gen fbody for the 66 chevelle, dont know the exact year as i didnt know there was a difference in the flange, but they fit pretty good. I think i have the bigger flanged ones but they fit. Ill ask the guy that let me test fit before i buy them the exact year of his car. This seems to be the cheapest exhaust for a chevelle swap plus the flange hole seemed bigger than the truck hole.
I tried a set of truck manifolds but they wouldnt fit on the passenger side as the flange hits the frame. Driver side i dont recall but will try again.
I tried a set of full length fbody headers, flowteck i think he said they were. The passenger side hit the frame. I couldnt get them to even bolt to the heads. Ill try again another weekend and post up. I may be able to get a set of mid length fbody headers so ill post results up when i get them.
I also have a set of 66 nova shorty/mid length lsx swap headers to try but they werent cheap at all. Only one company makes them for this car with a stock front end. They are made by stainless works / church boys racing, 1-3/4" stainless with 3" collector. They fkn sweet and perfect when i lower the nova. Im gonna see if they fit the chevelle when i get a little more time and ill post up the results with pics.

One Major different are that the 98-99 F-Body are doubled wall SS tube Mainfold.. GM couldn't get the car to pass emission and one band aid was to use those tube manifolds, as they would heat up faster. For 00's, they finally got the cast manifold, tune, cats and all to meet and pass the Fed emission standards.

Exhaust manifolds
Dont know if you were willing to look into aftermarket or not, but Hooker just released its new cast iron manifolds. were made to help with some of these figment problems. I am waiting on my set to go on a 64 chevelle with an ls1. summit racing or scoggins Dickey both should have them ready to ship.
$299 uncoated, $399 coated.

I saw those hookers and thought if worse came to worse id get them, but..... To me they do not look like they will make any more power than stock fbody manifolds will. Stock fbody manifolds are very cheap and sometimes free. $299-399 for the hookers in my opinion arent worth it. Id put more money into headers or skimp and get fbody manifolds.

I used 2002 trans am manifolds, they fit great! However depending on where you locate your engine will determine wether or not you can use the front o2 sensor bung in the driver side manifold. Many say they had to plug the hole and move the sensor down in the pipe for clearance as the sensor hits the crossmember. I was able to use the stock location on my setup.(5.3 in a 71 chevelle) also tried the 2000 truck as well as 20005 truck manifolds neither set fit.
