I figure if the weather's nice I'll go test and tune on Saturday. Just wondering how many other people from this board will be there.

Anybody end up going? I got called into work, so looks like Tuesday night for me.

I went with my friend it had a good turn out. Really nice lookin som ss camaro and a som ss vert camaro i know they are both on this site. I only saw them run 1/8th why is that? Only complaint is that when you tech in they nit pick every god damn thing!

Sure they were doing 1/8 mile to get some rubber on the track since it wasnt used for awhile.

I had heard they were going to repave the whole strip.

I think I'll do fine through tech as long as I remember to take my taillight covers off.

I spent the whole day in line teching in and then it rained and I didn't get a
pass because it rained. The guy out front told me to enter on collinsville road
so I did a complete circle around the track coming back to where I started.
The track was runnig for an 1/8 mile only and the whole crew seemed to be new with NHRA nit picking. I'm going to try tue it has to get better.

I saw you down there nice car btw. I was sranding by the tech line. Yes it wil get better and faster. I also think 1/8th was just so everyone got use to the track. I moght see if i can get a job tech line or somwthing. I knew more than the old dude at tech line did.

i heard it was taking nearly 3 hours to get through tech. hope thats not the case tomorrow night. ill be heading over there straight from work. probably get there just after 4 when the gates open

Im going tomorrow but my motors out so im watchin. The one guy i knew that was there it took him for ever the tech guy went to lunch ate 4 corn dogs and a soda then smoked about 6 cigs while sitting on his tail gate across from us and asked are you guys waiting to get teched in. I said no we just have the trunk hood and doors open for the hell of it. They are a little slow.

Last night was the first time I've ever run this car. I made 3 runs. First run I cut a 2.4 60', missed 4th gear and coasted through at 14.5. Second run I cut a 2.2 60', and went 13.7 at 107. Third run 60' was 2.3, 13.7 at 108. Between my lowered suspension, 18" street tires, and the track prep I couldn't get traction to save my life lol. I kinda feel like my mph is slow for my mods too.

The techs couldn't have been too nitpicky if they let Adam run his SOM SS vert with an MS4-cammed 408.
Yeah, that trap speed is WAY low for a heads/cam 6-speed; my car traps 109 with an auto and a stock longblock. I'm assuming that you had it tuned when you did the heads and cam, right?

yup i was there! my best run ended up being my first out of 3. running a 12.86 @ 116 2.2 60'. second time i ran a 13.5 after missing 3rd from a 2.1 60'. then finally bogged out after the launch and ran a 13.0 @ 115

I'd say both. I'm on 18 inch rikken raptors and have an eibach prokit in an M6 car. But, it didn't seem like anybody was hooking up all night

I was told by the previous owner that it had been tuned for the ms3 and the heads, but I'm not sure. However, he did give me a diablosport tuner with the car that he says was used to calibrate the speedo for the 4.10's....hopefully thats not what he meant by tuning lol. It didn't make a lot of sense to me either that he spent a bunch of money on the top end and didn't do headers or an intake (its still got the ls1 intake :barf: ). As soon as I get an ls6 intake I'm having the car (re)tuned. Its really bad that my old 93 z28 with bolt ons and weight reduction trapped as fast as my SS

So when you guys say they were nit picking everything in tech what do you mean exactly? I'd like to take my car up there but I have no cage and I'm sure I'd need one. What else do they look at?

Have you ran there before? They will try and say you might need a cage just tell em it only runs high 10's
And they shouldnt be able to do anything. Make sure you have a helmet of course and just in case bring a neck brace. The one guy i saw got tech in his lugs where not long enough, his tb didnt have a big enough spring, had a engine dress up kit i guess you cant have??? And something to do with his radiator i wasnt close enough to tell what he said.

no ive never ran there. been to the track many times but only to spectate. Are you allowed to run antifreeze on street driven cars or do they require water? i also have no driveshaft loop. ive been putting off getting one but maybe i should just get it over with. im pretty sure id be in the 10.xx's somewhere. just not sure where abouts. id hate to be the jackass that gets kicked out lol

The track is fine; if even one car is pulling the front tires then there is a reason that other cars are spinning. It is impossible to pull a wheelstand on a slick surface.
Technically you're not supposed to keep antifreeze in your radiator (only water is allowed) but I think that rule is rarely enforced.

Completely understand that. Practice does help alot. For instance first time with my car ran a 12.0 and got a high 11.9 the same day. Couple of months and more runs got my car into the 11.6s with nothing else done to my car besides drivers mod.

Started messing with the car yesterday and hopefully found a solution for my piss poor times.....I had the car running with the hood open and I noticed a ticking sound. I checked for exhaust leaks and nothing.. So after I shut the car off I checked all of my sparkplug wires and 2 weren't clicked into their coils. Think that'll make a difference in my MPH?

Well what I don't get is that I didn't have a CEL, but I did have the ticking from the arcing between the coil and the wire. The car is idling a lot smoother (well as smooth as a cammed car can lol) Throttle response is a lot better too. I really hope that was the only issue. I feel pretty stupid if it was though. Guess I'll find out Tuesday

im actually taking the duals off and going back to borla. it gets too annoying on long highway rides lol. plus the neighbors dont like it in the mornings.

There was a turbo red mustang with a different motor and spray. Off the line almost grinds his bumper lets off shifts and almost grinds his bumper again, got sideways and still ran a 9.7.

No I didn't get to run this weekend. I've got Ruff 275's on my car. Hoping for Tuesday though!

First day it opened no trac then like i stated with the stang and all the other no much spining just hooking.
