Turbo guys please chime in!!!
Well this has been a long time coming and things are starting to come together. It's now time to pick a turbo. Little background on my plans.
I already have -
1989 notch mustang
Cage
Full coil overs
Sfc's
Lq4
Csu blow thru
Vic jr intake
Obx up and forward headers
4l80
Built 8.8 rear
Car will be a street driven drag car, looking for boost to come on quick and want to push this thing to the max. I plan on running e85 and a2w for cooling. I have been looking at the tc78-68mm/.96 with billet wheel and 4" downpipe. Just wanted to hear what others were thinking as far as turbo choices before commiting and making tge purchase. Looking to go 9's and make big power. Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jason

He's running twin T76 Ball Bearing Turbos from On3 Performance. Built by Jim at CalSpeed and Performance in Bakersfield.
I'm running one in my rear mount and I put down 550 rwhp the other day.

Like I said I'll push it as far as I can, when it pops I'll build a motor. 800rwhp would be nice. Trans will be mvb 4l80 with 4000 stall. Not sure of cam just yet. I know I want to stay single front mount turbo. So I suppose cam suggestions would be helpfull

I spoke with rob at modular turbo yesterday and he recommended the tc unit and said the unit would give instant boost and meet my goals. I'm leaning toward his recommendation but feel I should at least make an informed decision based upon as much info as can possibly have. I just worry about the 480 being laggy.

I wouldn't run a tc78 unless you plan on using two of them. I would run an s475 or 480 they are available in many different turbine configurations. I would think on a 6.0 the standard 96mm would be fine. That 68mm will cause a ton of backpressure and heat and with an auto you only need to spool it once and with a transbrake that can start before your even moving.

yea i would do at least a t6. I built a buddies car ls1 383 with s480 with 1.32 96mm with 6 speed and makes 1 psi at 23-2400 rpm and 10psi by 2800 and pulls hard to 7000 limiter.....with an auto trans it will make it so much better....and i just bought a gt91 another buddy from Forced inductions and had no problems....i think some ppl bitch about alot of stupid ****....thats my 4th turbo ive got from FI with zero problems!!!!!!!!!!
tc78 on a 370 will have back pressure problems at 6000 or so rpms....
