Default Mercedes 560sec LS1 4l60E M122 blown

The latest addition to the Hybrid conversion world. An 86 560sec with a 99 ls1 4l60e. On the top is mounted a gt500 blower, and in the rear it has a Ford 8.8 IRS LSD from a mark VIII. This Is actually the second time around on this project, as I had it finished and painted (thus the black bumpers and hood) last year, but with a title problem it was time to get a different car to start with.

Nice...I'd love to see more pics, especially how you mounted the Ford rear and what you did for axles.

Tthe axles were made to accept the ford inners and the mercedes plunge Rzeppa outers. The stock subframe was modified to accept the 8.8 and the stock rear lincoln mount was used to hold it in hte back. I think that the weak point in the rear will be the outer stub spline for the Mercedes which is only about 1.25" long.

Thank you very much, it should be better once it is painted and sorted. Building the car the second time around sort of takes the fun out of it, but at least I had the parts to build it.

I'm very interested in how you put the gt500 blower on there. That Merc absolutely oozes badass.

I bought a manifold from magnacharger and adapted the blower to it. Good luck getting one now, as it seems that magnacharger is not selling the proprietary manifold now. Even so it may have been easier to make a manifold from scratch. I will be doing that for the Datsun 260z that i have another M122 for.

Do you have any pictures from the build of the manifold and the supercharger?

I've been wanting to do an LSx 380SL convertible, but Mercedes had the odd placement of the crossmember (which wont fit any oil pan), and a steering gear the size of a large coffee can.
Do you have shots of the empty engine compartment?
Very nice project btw.

The car was converted to a rack and pinion front steer, and the crossmember was cut out to adapt to the F body pan. The trans tunnel was widened and such. I have done it with the steering box in place, but the headers pretty much have to come around the front. THese headers wrap around the steering shaft to get enough room.

Do you have any pics or details of the r/p swap? Ie: which rack...did you have to custom make the front-steer arms...etc?

Thanks

Looks good. I have always had a soft sport for W126 coupes so much so I was contemplating this very swap a few years ago but chose to go with a BMW instead. would be nice to see the 8.8 if you have some pics.

I am also interested in more pics of the manifold/blower set up. Also, which MAF/throttle body are you using?
