LS4 Performance - Downpipe fyi

I installed my catlless hogan Downpipe today. By far the best mod for power aside from my tune. Anyone on the fence for their next mod, jump off this is the one. Sotp is certainly much more pull up top and sounds nasty even at idle.

Has anyone had any issues with the catted or catless downpipes making noise? like the ting/ring or ticking? Mine rings a little im going to try to heat wrap it and replace both the gaskets tomorrow.

My catless ticks /rings alittle. I think this is the nature of the beast. I replaced both gaskets when I installed it. Does not bother me. Only really noticeable at idle or with windows down.

Good to know lol...keep moving with the windows up. Did you try heat wrapping it to deaden the sound?

Have not tried any wrap does not bother me enough to mess with. I too second the nice power gain and awesome exhaust note with the catless downpipe. Pretty sweet to watch people do a double take to see if that exhaust note is coming from my car :D

Baltsk8er since you live nearby let me know if you want to try wrapping your downpipe, I have a 2 post lift in my garage. Makes things a lot easier.

I manage a shop so I have service bays as well. I'm wrapping it tomorow. Where are you at?

Been to both before but usually go to 75-80 it is not as nice but closer and usually less crowded.

Mine had a tick/ring at low rpm/low speed. But once u give it more throttle it goes away. Mine was welded in.

93 sohc accord.....sorry couldnt help my self 08 impala SS. Wrapped the pipe in heat wrap to the bend. Problem solved. Exhaust is loud as hell now. Love the performance gain catless or bust. I had the catted on first made a big difference.

Stupid question. Where can I get one?

Mine has always ticked a little. Kinda gives the car a bit of a 60's/headers sound.

Anyway, it is an awesome mod, and I think it played a big part (along with the tune) in getting me to 275 WHP.

I didn't see the catless one listed. How much is it?

Dps5 is the shorty...aka you have weld in a price of 3inch pipe and a flange. Whatever you get order it from his ebay store its cheaper.

When I had my catless downpipe it would also have that ticking noise but it wouldnt bother me at all.

I too was looking on going that route.. But I'm going with DT headers.. Catless into the Hogan Catback exhaust with either flowmasters super 40s or magnaflows..any opinion on which..? And how significant does my SS have to be modded to run right with 3 inch resonator..?

Zgoat I did end up gutting but got a weird sound from the ribs in the cat. So I cut the cat out welded in a piece of 3 inch straight pipe. Hi temp painted the whole pipe black and heat wrapped it to the elbow.
