Ticking/hum sound from both valve covers

Ticking/hum sound from both valve covers i made 3 passes in a 1/8 mile track and on my way home my car died and it would not idle once i got it to run. as i started it for the first time after it died on me it was making a some sort of ticking sound..
well i finally got it home and this morning when i jumped it again to get it running it was worse than before. i have no clue what it could be, maybe a bent pushrod or the the rocker arms are loose maybe the springs are broken?
sounds kinda like from both sides but mainly on the driver side..
if anyone knows what kinda problem this is.. i would greatly appreciate the suggestions what it could be and what i can do.
has stock bottem end and prc 706 heads with the ms3 cam.
