Let me start by thanking a few people...

Fat Body Performance for building the car, lending bottles, giving advice, showing support, and all the last minute, late night modifications.

Blu - If it wasn't for you I would have been walking around like a lost puppy. Thanks for helping me badge up the car.

My friends and family for taking pictures, listening to the classes called, and helping out however you could.

Now, here's the funny part. I was entering into True Street to run the 11.0 index class on the bottle.... I made my 30 mile cruise with Gator and Havoc. I made sure bottle pressure was maintained, gas levels were good, etc. Go to make my first pass... decide to launch off the Transbrake first. I do a nice burnout, pull up, purge, stage, get on the tbrake... launch, WTF?! That was weak... why am I going so slow??! Look down... Damn It!!! I forgot to arm the damn nitrous! Rookie mistake. Buckled under pressure I guess..

I ended up running a 12.399. (Which is consistent with what I've been running on motor)

I decide, 11.0 is done now... let's shoot for 12.0

I figure, I can run a 11.0 next pass on the bottle, then run 12.5s on motor for an overall average of 12.0.

I launch off the footbrake and ran 11.103. Even better. If I run a 12.500 I'll average a 12.001 overall.

Now, I made a pass earlier in the day... nailed the brakes hard on the top end and went 12.49. If I run another 12.49 then my average drops to 11.99 and I lose.

I'm sitting in my car with calculator in hand figuring all this out while in the staging lanes since we're required to make 3 back to back to back passes.

I decide to leave off the footbrake on motor this time and brake on the top end. I calculated that I could run anywhere from 12.50-12.65 and I'll average at worst a 12.051 which I figured would be pretty damn competitive.

I make my last pass and end up running a 12.762. I let off a little too much on the top end. Blu made a good point afterwards that this was my third pass and the car was slowing down. Had I just stayed in it, I probably would have went a low 12.5x. I was just terified of the 12.499

So, with the messed up first pass of 12.399, spray run of 11.103, and letting off run of 12.762 I ended up averaging a 12.088 which was good enough for FIRST PLACE!!

Here was the field around me..

11.981 (he was only 0.019 off but broke out so technically fell into the 11.0 index)
12.088 - me.. then the rest of the field went like this:
12.123
12.126
12.136 and so on.

This was my first time ever competing in a big event like this. It has been a blast so far. Now I have to get my game face on for the Rumble Index Eliminations tomorrow.

which one was yours? I sat and watched the whole true street class which I thought was an awesome class btw. I saw several LS birds making some runs. figured someone was on here

He has the 2001 Red WS6 Trans Am with the Weld Pro Star wheels all the way around. It definitely rides out for the mods that are done to it. Congrats on the win this past weekend Jarrod. :D

I almost lifted too much on my third pass. I was aiming for a 12.50-12.65. Thank goodness I didn't let off too much and ended with a 12.76.

Did you end up making it to the Finals in Rumble Index?

I didn't get a chance to say congrats on Sunday morning when we were talking with John while waiting on the round 2 call to the lanes. Bummer for HAVOC; I was announcing the True Street stuff on Saturday and couldn't tell what was happening with his car (hood, tire, body panels?!?). Bad timing on the tire, but at least the damage didn't look too bad. I was driving the green Nova parked next to him in the pits.

Pulled out of True street due to clutch fluid over heated. I runner uped in rumble didn't have a enough time to get up on my trans brake before the light turned that's why I had a .198 reaction time and no cool down time between semi and final going to take care of heat problem with DOT 5 blue fluid. Congrats again on the true street win. Come to ATL support the series !!!

Yeah, Havoc dodged a bullet on that one. He was extremely lucky that the tire didn't blow and it was just a separation of tread. He was unlucky in that we make a 30 mile cruise and everything is fine. First pass and wham, tire falls apart and chips a piece of his bottom panel.

Big Congrats to you Shawn on making the Finals. I know you were chopping the tree down earlier in the day. This was my first time on a pro tree and I have some work to do if I want to be competitive at all. If you want... we can trade; you can have my first place winnings and I'll settle for your runner-up winnings. :D

Thanks! I think Gator was up till about 3 AM the night before waxing his car and smoothing it over with diapers.

Yes, it was definitely hot. The track temps were 135 on Saturday.
