i think its officially time that i start a build thread (short and sweet, pic heavy)
heres a quick run down, i tore my car apart Oct. 2010 with the intent to do a cam swap and some other little things. Well low and behold i found this in #7 cylinder. car had 100k miles on it, 70k hard miles from me. few 100shot in there as well
so time for a full out rebuild, somewhat budget friendly. enough talking, lets see some pics.
now lets get to the money spending
after getting the block from the machine shop
installing the Mahle pistons 3.905 bore -16cc on Scat I beam rods.
ls6 oil pump with JP double row timing set
arp head studs and GM multilayer steel head gaskets
picked up a set of 243s with a fresh valve job
got a set of used harland sharps
starting to look like a motor again
in the mean time while saving and waiting for more parts i focused on some smaller things
made my own battery tray in the spare tire well
also wire tucked my engine bay, cant find any pics of that currently though
also decided i would tear down my tranny and see why i couldnt downshift to second gear. Found a broken snap ring and fubared hub.
thanks to Tick performance for hooking me up with all the parts needed to fix it.
tranny done
now back to some bigger parts
midwest chassis turbo k member
front suspension painted up read to go
also scored a used moser 9"
now back to the engine
in the k member awaiting clutch
LS7 clutch/flywheel
tick speed bleeder
tick master, arp bolts, speed bleeder
tranny and engine mated
time for another order
twin wallys
russels brake lines
everything to run the fuel system -8an feed, -6an returned into factory feed line
hurst line lock with all new routed brake lines
wilwood proportioning valve
new line routed for pass. side caliper
and here we are today
engine is finally home
finished plumbing the fuel system
-8an feed -6an return
tomorrow i hope to finish wiring my fuel pump relays, run a power wire to the starter and alternator, and finish up some other little wiring things. Then if all goes well i will hit the key and listen to that sweet sound ive been missing for over a year.

heads are 243 cast off a GTO.
cam is TSPs Torquer V2
Intake is a 85mm professional products typhoon
the engine will only be 9.0:1 compression due to the fact that it will see some forced induction in the near future. Thus explaining some of the over build(fuel system)

also a quick note i forgot to add.....if you delete your charcoal canister/evap system make sure you dont do what i did. I capped this line off in the picture
so when i went to fill the tank up with gas it wouldn't allow the tank to vent properly and ended up not allowing gas to enter the tank. So for now i just removed my cap but im not sure if i should leave it like that or not. any opinions on what you guys have done to allow the tank to still vent?

Yes, the four raised circles on front of engine block/driver's side in pic (I think it's pic #8). They are usually stamped with clock-like figures, which will indicate 1)year of manufacture & month 2)A,B,C,D(not sure what this is/may be shift) 3) & 4)are the day of month. The four circles in your pic look flat/no stamp. No big deal, I was just wondering.

for your fuel filling issue what about getting a small charcoal filter that was used for the romote location on a pickup vent solenoid? you could just splice it in and run the hose up to and mount to the body or even mount it to the tank. not sure if you could get just the filter or not and i know the vent solenoid and filter is a little on the steep side. if you wanted im sure i could get a part number at work for ya

a weekend update:
I got a lot of stuff done this weekend, installed my new spohn driveshaft, fabricated brake line brackets for the front, installed my steering rack, finished up all of my wiring, bleed all the brakes and clutch, and i got to drive it for about 50 miles.
here is some pics of what the finished engine bay looks like
it runs pretty decent for having the stock tune in it. Only has the occasional stalling when coming to a stop but is very responsive throughout the powerband(only up to 4k so far). That full spool rear lets you know it is there when making slow speed sharp turns, along with the fact that i deleted my power steering and my arms are feeling the burn of trying to turn 275 tires up front haha. Time to order a manual rack i guess.
Any questions feel free to ask.
I will be taking some more pictures here pretty shortly with a better camera so i can show some more in depth pieces/parts that were made/moved/redesigned.
thanks
