Im getting an odd clunk in the drivetrain. It happens if you punch it off the line one sharp clunk, then put it into reverse same thing one sharp clunk. If you take off it will clunk and then slam the brakes it will clunk again as you come to a stop. It feels as if its right below the shifter and sounds like it as well. I have all the suspension mods below and recently installed a BMR torque arm relocation bracket with a new gm motor mount (I had a poly one though it or the arm on the tailshaft could be the problem) but alas it still does it. Please help is really annoying. Its almost as if its the body flexing and popping or something like its expanding and contracting against something it doesnt like...

Grease the u joints on the driveshaft maybe. My 4runner did the same thing. Greased eveything under, all good. Hope this helps.

U joints are no more than a year and 5k miles old and they were moog not some junk brand. You think theyve already gone bad? I swear the feeling is simlar to blowing a a tranny mount on an LT1 (they dont have the metal hook to keep the tranny down even when blown)

Bump for my sanity. I'll pay if someone's local to Pittsburgh and can help.

excessive slack between pinion and ring gear? Also maybe look to see that nothing is catching on the springs or shocks when the suspension articulates?

could very well be the new torque arm mount. especially if you're hearing it under the shifter. read the install manual again and make sure you didn't skip a step, or forget something. i would avoid the jackrabbit starts going forward or backwards until you get it figured out.

I had this same problem on my 95 Camaro Z28... ended up the Transmission mount had failed... I was putting enough torque on the transmission that the rubber mount split, you would never notice it until you lifted the chassis.

I went through 4 of the 'high performance' rubber mounts before using the solid piece polyurethane mount (no holes, one solid block).

i used to keep an extra rubber mount in my toolbox...with my old L98/700R4 setup, i used to break the rubber ones about every 2 months. usually it was a hard shift from 1st to 2nd with a lot of traction.
