Everyone will tell you to just save your money for a 9" or 12 bolt - and for good reason. My rear is one reason I won't put DRs on yet...

Either you didnt read all the threads on the 'no no's' of the 10bolt or you just plain ignored them.. either way, this is a fail... delete it and read more...

If you have an auto maybe, my friend was making around 400 rwhp and his lasted well over 100 passes on the tracj with some ET streets. Its a toss up, I wouldnt risk it unless you have a spare waiting to go in.

Autos can take the 10 bolt deep in the 1.5x 60fts and usually not have issues. The M6s can break them on a 2.0 60ft launch. Big difference in power application between the two.

Are you auto or m6?

I'm at 405whp with my stalled auto, and the stock 3.42 10 bolt is still living strong. Plenty of track passes and burnouts on it. With an m6 your on borrowed time.

installed a 9"/detroit locker/4.11 after running the 7 1/2 for 12 years and 76000 niles
pulling 1.6xx and 7 1/2 still going strong when I removed it

now lets see if I can add it all up
my A4/stalled/10 bolt

ta cover/stud kit (140.00)
detroit locker (525.00)
3.73 (200.00)
mos axels (250.00)
welded tubes (nc)
mt drag radals (300.00)
air bags (50.00)
adjust ta on body mount(250.00)
relocate brackets (nc)
adjust lca (200.00)
adj phb (100.00)
all labor (nc)
all added a nickel and a dime at a time

heck of a lot of money in a 10 bolt

I do not want to add it up/all this in a 10 bolt running mid 11'

Running in the 400rwhp range you should be good. With them rear ends you can have problems when you are running in the 500+ range depending how much traction you put to the ground with the automatic. The M6 have the most problems with tearing up the rear end and breaking axles. I'm running in the mid 400's with 150 shot on top of that, built tranny, 3600 stall, and 3.73 on my 10 bolt. I changed the axles and the gears and that's it. I haven't had any issues. Now once I do the relocation brackets, torque arm, and all that and start sticking to the ground more, then the problems might start. With the 10 bolts some slippage is good. It depends on what you are trying to build is whether or not you want to save the money for the 12 bolt or 9in. I'm keeping my car a street car. I'm not worried about every car at the strip, only the ones that want to play from light to light. I haven't had no one beat me yet and until they do, I will run the 10 bolt.

As stated before, with your car being a M6 with drag radials, it will be just a matter of time before the 10-bolt says "good bye"!

if you arent afraid of fabbing sum stuff y not just buy a 12 bolt outta truck and make it work

I have a feeling it's gonna be hard to find a truck 12 bolt, or any 12 bolt for that matter cheap. I believe Chevy put the 12 bolt in trucks until '82.

9" or 8.8" Ford is a cheaper, more plentiful option, and will be just as strong or stronger than the 12 bolt. Unfortunately, it's a Ford...:barf:

a 8.8 would be stupid easy to find i got one out of a exploder but yea a 12 bolt isnt to easy to find. i do kno that a 8.8 pretty much bolts into a s10 but i dont know the actual power handling on them my buddy has a 500hp s10 with one and no probs so far with 1.6 60'
