I'm looking for a ls1 again. I use to have one and totaled it due to some unmarked road work. Because of the economy i chose to buy a 02 Celica gts.... and the fact i couldn't find a ls1 i wanted. But now i'm looking to cell my Celica and go back to a ls1 because i cant take it anymore i miss it! I'm curious as to suggestions. i use to have a 02 z28 and i i've read before that there was something different they did with the 01 and 02 Camaro's that they didn't with 98, 99, 00 models. I cant remember if they were bad things or not. Anyways i was curious to ya'lls opinion on something like these two I've found on craigslist. Thanks Guys!

Check out the information in this link, it will explain the differences between the model years:

Some of the differences are good, some are not as good, and some are just different. But it's all fairly minor for most applications, so I would not let it stop me from buying any particular model year. Having said that, I've personally owned every model year of LS1 car (except '01) and I'm here to tell you that there is no magic year that is drastically better nor worse. My advice would be to focus less on the model year and focus most on picking the nicest condition example you can find within your budget, with the options that are most important to you.

I agree, at the end of the day an LS1 is an LS1.
Personally, the only thing that made me stray away from the '98-'99 would be the dull grey'ish looking interior color that they have, I didn't like it as much as the 00+ and that was a concern because I would be sitting in it everyday. Other than that there are no crucial differences, buy whatever LS1 F-Body you like and can get the best deal on, in my opinion at least.

Hi,
My suggestion, check out the vehicle's in question. Purchase the car with the best over-all condition, engine, transmission etc. Don't buy because you like the car or impulsive buying along with sales pressure. You will find something that is reliable in your budget. Good luck and have a blessed week.

This is all just an opinion thing, but I really like the seats in the '98-'99 Camaros better (cloth). With leather seats the only difference between the years is the color, but they totally changed the design and fabric on the '00+ cloth seats, and I like the older style much better. I don't care much for leather, so I generally look for the cloth seat cars I and really like the older style better.
I do agree that the darker color of the '00+ interior is nice though, but it's still not real black (even though some people seem convinced that it is). The '00+ "Ebony" is really just a darker gray than the previous dark gray. An actual black interior is darker than the Ebony found in these cars.
