I'm mounting my battery in the right rear, what battery do I need?
I have my fuseboxes mounted inside the car on the hvac delete panel. I ran 15' of 1/0 weilding cable to them.
Just your normal 12 volt battery.
The one with the highest cca's or what.

.
Can't beat a quality 16v for a modern hot rod.
Especially if starting new!!
They stay at full power longer, they start the car quicker, and if round robined, you will be more consistent dialing in!!
I have Turbo start & Powermaster, both have been fine.
Good luck.

^ my buddy is lookin at doin a 16v. what changes need to be made to run a 16v battery in a 12v car? he wants to run 1 or possibly 2 16v batteries so he can remove his alternator.

I don't have a real car, so that kind of stuff I don't know about.
I do know 16v is frigging awesome. I run 1 battery, with electric everything,
including big ass fuel pump, water pump, fans, and multiple N2O systems that draw a lot!!!
I have never hurt anything, including an older but expensive data computer, & multi function delay box.
Unless you have a big power EFI combination, everyone I know runs 1 16v with zero issues ever.

I use an Optima mounted in the rear along with an alternator. The best thing is a 16V battery but I don't think you can run 16V with a stock PCM. If you want to stay legal the battery needs to be contained via a battery box or a firewall of some sort.

I'm running the same battery I had up front. It's 650 CCA if I remember correctly and it works just fine.

I'm pretty sure I squeezed a group 34 in my moroso blue box. I wanted top mount terminals and it is rated at 820 CCA at 32*

And there are lots like it. My car has one to limit the voltage to the PCM and instruments. I don't really see any need for a 16 volt battery in a normal car. If you're running a 600 inch engine maybe.

Maybe later down the road, I'll switch to a 16 volt system.
I'm keeping the alternator for now. Is the Red Top Optima the one to get?
I got a battery box.

Definitely need a sealed battery for interior mounting. I would go with a red top.

Definitely need a sealed box to put the battery in, doesn't have to be a sealed battery. Even if it is the battery still has to be in a box, or behind a bulkhead, so I wouldn't make a decision based on whether it's sealed or not.
