finally bought some pacesetter long tube headers today and i am pumped for them to come in and get them out on. here is my question....i want to keep the car inspection legal and all that so is there any way to coustomize the stock mid pipe to fit the long tubes with o2's still in place

There is no point in keeping the stock midpipes with cats. Just weld some high flow cats into the pacesetter midpipes and get tuned.

Go get a custom midpipe made and have 2 bungs welded in for your rear 02's.

What "inspection" do you have in TX?

You need to disable the rear 02's for the CEL not to come on. An actual tune adjusting timing and A/F isn't going to be a must but its definitely not going to run 100% without one.

So basicly it sounds like you are trying to run before you can walk.

Sell the hand held "tuner" and use that money to get a real tune. Then you have the choice of keeping cats or going catless. I'd go without cats if it were me.

i run no cats and no tune lol. i got a malfunction light. im just waiting on an extra 500 to roll around to get a tune...or a cam. i wish my college boy budget was better.

$150 bucks seems a little steep for two little mid pipes to me lol

I have the catless Pecesetter mids on mine, but what I did is make some catted mids to slip on for a couple hours every 2 years when I do safety and emissions. It won't cost you much as you already have the cats. Now all you really need is some pipe. I bought 7 feet of 3" pipe for $20 from a muffler shop and used MAYBE half of it. If you have the tools to do the rest yourself it can be done very easily, very cheaply, and fairly quickly. This will allow you to have the performance and sound characteristics of the catless mids, and for not much more money be able to have a emissions legal exhaust when necessary that's extremely easy to slip on and off. If you need some more info on this PM me and I can go into further detail and include some pictures, too.
Also, I currently have on my '04 long tubes, catless mids, Flowmaster '05-'06 catback, K&N, and a ported TB, and I'm still on a stock tune. Point being, by just putting on headers and catless mids you won't "need" a tune. It will help as mine is definitely running rich and there's some power left on the table, but it isn't a must. I've been putting off a tune on mine until I put a cam in it when a tune becomes mandatory. Hope that helps.
