ls build in a 3rd gen
i am build a turbo ls 5.3 and putting it in a 86 camaro but i am caught up on the trans and gear for this should i run the 4l80e or the 4l60e and should i run 4:10 or the 3:73 this will be a street/strip car

Might have to go to a higher gear than a 3:73 for a street turbo so the turbo will have better spool times, You dont want a low gear for a turbo car. More people can/will chime in with better advice.

Personally, since you're talking about a turbocharger, I'd be leaning toward the 4L80E (not sure if you'd run into any fitment issues though). It's definitely possible to build a stout 4L60E, but I'd think that if they were both built identically, the beefier trans would give you a bit more margin for error.
That's just my $.02 though...

Listen to Pocket cause he knows his stuff. Also check out thirdgen.org to see what is needed for the 80 swap. They have a lot of info over there for us. Good luck with your build bro.
