Just wanted to share a build we have going on right now. Very nice example of a vehicle that not only will perform well, but looks killer as well!

The owner is a past customer of ours who owns some very nice cars that we have the privilege of tuning and modifying. When he approached us with this project, he wanted to pull out all the stops. He contributed many ideas which we applied to the overall concept of this car.

Our favorite aspect of this build is the quality of everything, and while it looks more or less factory on the outside - nothing is stock about the parts we are adding. This vehicle is going to be a VERY fast car.

Vehicle: 1998 Trans Am, M6, Convertible

Paint: Custom PPG Lamborghini Black - by Superior Automotive Design

Suspension: BMR 1" drop springs, Bilstein shocks, UMI Adj Tunnel Mounted T/A, On car Adj Lower control arms, 3-pt SFCs, all poly bushings. We set this car up for more road driving than anything. Certainly not a drag only set up, but I think we can cut a decent '60 anyhow.

Engine: TEC built 427 LS7, forged bottom end, ported LS7 heads, aftermarket cam, electric water pump, ARP fasteners - engine made 618 on the engine dyno without optimal timing. We expect to make about 650 fwhp after tuning.

Trans: Stock T56 which has been rebuilt by Promotion Performance to handle 800 ft lbs of torque, Viper output shaft

Driveshaft: PST 3" Steel

Clutch: Monster Level 3 Premium, 28 lb flywheel, stock hydraulics

Rear end: Moser 9", 33 spline, Moser Locker, custom black Powdercoat by Superior Automotive Design

Wheels/Tires: TBD, but leaning towards polished Weld RTS drag wheels. 17" in front, 15" in rear wrapped in some M&H Racemasters.

Nitrous: Nitrous Express Wet Plate system, 150 HP jetting, 10 lb bottle, custom lines, larger noids.

Brakes: Painted stock calipers, aftermarket rotors and stainless lines

Exhaust: TBD - we're going to think about what he wants as we get closer to turning this thing over.

Fueling: Stock rails, LS7 Injectors, Racetronix Walbro Intank, Kenne Bell BAP for the juice :)

Tuning: Stock PCM and harness from 2002 Fbody, repinned of course. Lashway tune by Josh Isaacs

I like the Vert too - totally out there, especially with the power.

No cage - yet

Good observation! Once the car is on the ground, I plan to order a cage from Wolfe Racing.

Got the car turning last night :)

Just have to adjust the tune a bit to get it to idle!

Stay tuned.

Thread in need of update huh?

LS7 fired up a few weeks ago. Prior to engine swap, vehicle went to paint for custom paint job. In the process, a lot of factory ground locations, and wiring were removed and not put back (no ones fault). Once we got the car running, we found that a few grounds were missed. We had to go back through and find them all and sort through that mess.

Anyway, all problems sorted out. We also decided to add a nitrous kit from Nitrous Express - really nice plate system with some custom lines we bent...looks killer.

Anyway, I will add pics and stuff as we go.

We're absolutely slammed at the shop - a great problem to have!

She's ready for some street driving!

Sorry about the video quality - we're still perfecting that side of the business haha.

Video: 2500-7000 RPM

After some street break in, we'll come back and test out the custom Nitrous Express kit we installed! Stay tuned.

Very nice! I'm very interested in seeing how well this car does. My car is very similar. TEC LS7 427, 12:1 compression, 24x/25x 624 lift cam (can't remember), 6 spd, 12 bolt, 3.73 gears, 3,650 race weight but the big difference is that I have trick flow 235s. Bret is helping me with the tune so I hope to see some improvements. I could never really determine how much better the ls7 heads were.

Car made 610/615 on 100 shot and mild timing...

Going to bump it up to a 150 shot soon! Car is a FREAK!

PS - the cam is MILD as hell. I would have gone with something bigger, but this suited the owners wants and needs!

Hey guys...just an update.

Car ran 11.3 with two people on the car - NO SPRAY and a horrible '60.

We're going to dial in the launch, and hit it with spray and see mid 10's hopefully. Then we'll bump up the shot until we hit a 9 (at least that's our goal).

I am going to update the mods list here in a bit....

Thanks for following.

Hows the meziere street electric water pump? Worth the buy?

man2004
01-10-2013, 09:21 PM
On a 427 LS7, it's good for around 15 ft-lbs of RW torque and 5-10RWHP according to an article in GMHTP. It's likely less beneficial with smaller cubes.

Pump is worth EVERY PENNY. I have run one on every car I have owned - 2002 Camaro SS and my Z06. Mike's car idles at ~180* on the hottest day. Cruising, even less.

My Z06 used to run at like 230* - no joke. After 160* Tstat and water pump from Meziere, she runs below 200* at all times! We sell the pumps here:
