One little thing I wanted to mention to you, it would be nice if the show also had an award for best engineering. Something for guys like me who have something different, but maybe not the paid other people to do stuff dollar value of the other classics there. Just sayin. ???

I'll make the suggestion. Just an FYI, we have a ton of awards already, and the one thing my boss doesn't want to do is hold people hostage with a long awards ceremony. Not saying there's no chance though...

I printed and mailed mine yesterday in for the 3 TAs I bringing. Last couple years I didn't make the 500, got 512. Didn't get mine in the mail yet so I'd get a jump on it.

Guys as far as loud, I'll throw myself in there. With my main 4" cutout open its similar to a nascar. I even won an award for loudest/rad-exhaust.;) I've kept it closed when I drove in.

Come on with it! There are many under construction cars there each year. Keep in mind, it's not just about an award, it's about the fellowship among enthusiasts. This is a laid back show at a beautiful venue with tons to offer. Trophys collect dust, and take up space- Memories enjoying your ride with other GM fans are priceless.

Considering that weekend is the NHRA division 2 ET finals in Georgia, I doubt Gainesville Raceway will be open as they'll have a bunch of racers representing them up there. I can always ask.... ;)

As Travis mentioned, this show is more about having a good time with friends and family versus the awards. Having it at Silver Spring park versus the average show in a parking lot or field (which I still attend plenty of, so no knocks) means you can enjoy the day. And my boss hates award presentations that drag on forever, so we try to make the classes as fair as possible (broken up by years and make/type of vehicle, because the modified vs non-modified, level of $$$ invested, etc. can get touchy).

There are over 35 awards, and besides the individual class there are editor's choice award(s) from the magazines covering the event, vendors awards, and a NPD pick. And keep in mind unlike some shows where popular choices means a club voting in a car to win or ballot stuffing, only one vote ballot per car is given, and we check the results to make sure it's a fair and balanced deal. My Nova is a driver that gets beaten on plenty at the racetrack, so while clean it does have its share of scars, but scored an award in 2010 (shocked even me)!

Had a few people complain about the noise level of my cable operated cut out side exhaust at last year,s show on my camaro nosed el camino. I thought it wasn,t loud enough. Oh well ,can't make everybody happy.

I want to say it's $25 per car, for two people to enter- Which is rougly half price admission to the park. We paid last year because I was slack and waited too long to register, but it's worth every dime.

I will be there along with others from my groups. Got my postcard back weeks ago.

We're now over 900 cars and trucks pre-registered! Don't forget that pre-registration is open until October 1st; after that date you can register on-site on October 6th (day of the show). Pre-registration will get you through the registration lines a little quicker than doing a day-of-show sign-up (costs are the same at $21 per vehicle, which includes admission for 2 people insider the park), but we still welcome day-of-show vehicles!

taking my Z to a fabricator in the next week to have a custom Xmember made to clear dual exhaust, my t56 swap is nearly complete, exhaust wont be done but who cares, open headers are a nice sound....
the car may not look the greatest, still missing gfx and is partially in primer, and not street legal yet, but thats why they make trailers and trucks....

Had well over 170,000, then we had a baby boy. Due to no child seat able to fit in it, the mileage it sees a year has dropped a bunch since then.

Hmmm got you beat by 40k, with 209k its almost my DD as I use it to travel from Orlando to Ft Laud and back the same day about 3 times a month. I used to be a bit concerned with telling how many miles on my original clean 01WS6 vert but now I see it as the red badge of courage. It is very much at home with all the much lower mile cars.

Something tells the mileage would be way past 200 K as well if my wife it continued to drive it more. I just keep waiting for the day that the engine needs to come apart so I can upgrade a few things!!

Doing the same thing with my Z28, when it breaks, it is getting turned into a bracket racing car. 167K and counting now still runs like a top

Mine would just get a mild updating (including needed paint) so it would hopefully run low 12s / high 11s so no roll bar needed but a decently quick DD

Officially the gates go up amd we start parking at 7 (because of lack of light before that) but we always have people show up before then. It is not required however...

Yes we have trailer parking; it's located right before the registration lines start. We will have several people there to direct you to the right location and make it easy for dropping out or off the trailer and then joining the registration lines to go inside.

You can still pre-register for another 2 days; after Monday we have to start assembling packets, printing all the materials and so on. Remember you can still register on Saturday morning for the same cost as pre-registration.

If you want to pre-register through e-mail, my contact is dputnam@npdlink.com (dputnam@npdlink.com) (must be received by 8 a.m. Monday). To register, please include your name, address, daytime phone number, then the year, make, model and color of your vehicle.

The show package is $21 and that admits the car and 2 people into Silver Springs for the day, and the $21 fee is payable in cash or check form when you arrive at the park on Saturday morning.

If you need additional discounted passes (available at show registration / packet pick-up 7-10 a.m.), they are $20 for adults / $15 child (ages 3-10) versus standard park rates of $31.99 adult / $24.99 child.

Don't forget the Friday morning cruise from NPD's Ocala homebase to Cedar Key. Super Chevy magazine will be in attendance for the cruise, as well as on the grounds for Saturday's show.
