What HP gains to expect going to a 402 while still using my eps 234_246 cam and 243get heads. Also plan to have heads ported. I just wanted a 10.99 pass, finally got it now I want more.

Might be a bit It over 550 with that cam, remember, cubic inches eat up duration, so something along 248/ 256 duration is what you will need to give that engine the air it needs to make 600. Maybe larger, so custom grind is calling your name.

i keep hearing this "custom grind" cam, how do you know what to "grind" it to? if you get me anywhere near a cam it'll be worth the metal its made out of... so how would you get the perfect cam selection for what your building?

Contact PatG, or EPS. they will custom spec you a cam for a fee. you will fill out a sheet with all required information and they will send you cam specs.

there are many other professionals as well, who can spec a cam that is suited to your combo. I used Bret Bauer.

I talked to the people at comp cams before I talked to geoff and made the mistake and said street car. They wanted me to stay in the low 220s and make it on a114. I'm glad I made that call to EPS.

Comp will always spec on the EXTREME conservative side.

I have found that the best way to pick a cam is to find someone who is doing what you are doing, and duplicate the set up. Its hard to argue with results. And I guess there is something to be said for being a pioneer, but ill personally leave that for people with more time and money than me, lol. Eric L
